  • Patent number: 11601882
Abstract: A method for adjusting discontinuous reception (DRX) behavior of a user equipment (UE) to conserve energy use includes exposing a DRX application programming interface (API) that enables DRX parameters to be changed and defining a conflict resolution policy that controls when requests to change the DRX parameters should be granted. The method also includes receiving, via the DRX API, a request from an application to change a DRX parameter for the UE. The UE is in wireless communication with a base station, and the application is configured to send data to the UE via a mobile network that comprises the base station. The method also includes determining, based at least in part on the conflict resolution policy, that the request should be granted and sending a command to the base station that causes the base station to communicate a new value of the DRX parameter to the UE.

  • Patent number: 11588599
Abstract: A network device (e.g., a user equipment (UE), or a new radio NB (gNB)) can process or generate a configuration of a physical random access channel (PRACH) over physical resource blocks (PRBs) that are interlaced in an unlicensed band in an NR unlicensed (NR-U) communication. The PRBs in the PRACH can be based on an occupied channel bandwidth (OCB) of the unlicensed band in the NR-U communication. A random access channel transmission in the PRACH can then be generated by interlacing the PRBs defining the PRACH.

  • Patent number: 11558249
Abstract: A UE is configured to perform Radio Link Monitoring (RLM) with a first Coverage Enhancement (CE) configuration that provides a first CE level. The first RLM configuration associated with the first CE configuration has a first radio-link-quality-improving threshold value that corresponds with a third distance from a base station that is closer to the base station than a second distance associated with an in-sync radio link quality threshold value associated with a first RLM configuration. The first RLM configuration also has a first radio-link-quality-improving-cancellation threshold value that corresponds with a fourth distance from the base station that is located farther from the base station than the third distance and closer to the base station than the first distance. If conditions are satisfied, the base station reconfigures the UE with a second RLM configuration and a second CE configuration having a second CE level lower than the first CE level.

  • Patent number: 11546847
Abstract: A radio terminal (3) can perform carrier aggregation using a first cell (10) of a first radio station (1) and a second cell (20) of a second radio station (2). The first radio station (1) or the second radio station (2) transmits constraint information to the radio terminal (3). The constraint information contains an information element necessary to specify a reception constraint and/or transmission constraint related to the first cell (10) and/or the second cell (20) when the carrier aggregation is performed. The reception/transmission constraint is a constraint related to downlink signal reception/uplink signal transmission by the radio terminal over one or more subframe periods of the primary cell (10) and the secondary cell (20). It is thus, for example, possible to contribute to reduction in wasteful power consumption in the radio terminal in the carrier aggregation of a plurality of cells served by different radio stations.

  • Patent number: 11523314
Abstract: In one embodiment, a device in a wireless network receives telemetry data from a plurality of autonomous vehicles. The telemetry data is indicative of radio signal quality metrics experienced by the vehicles at a particular location over time. The device forms an array of wireless roaming thresholds by applying regression to the telemetry data. The device computes an optimum roaming threshold from the array of wireless roaming thresholds to be used by the vehicles when approaching the location. The device triggers, based on the computed optimum threshold, one or more of the autonomous vehicles to initiate access point roaming when approaching the particular location.
