  • Patent number: 5355436
Abstract: A neural network provides both linearly separable and non-linearly separable logic operations, including the exclusive-or operation, on input signals in a single layer of circuits. The circuit weights the input signals with complex weights by multiplication and addition, and provides weighted signals to a neuron circuit (a neuron body or soma) which provides an output corresponding to the desired logical operation.

  • Patent number: 5353384
Abstract: In development of an expert system, there is a problem that when sufficient knowledge is provided for solving a problem, the amount of information to be processed is increased thereby retarding the processing operation, and furthermore descriptive information is not used practically when descriptive information is insufficient and the problem cannot be analyzed sufficiently. In order to solve this problem, there is provided a function of "extracting knowledge required to solve problems within a certain range from detailed knowledge automatically". The expert system includes a first knowledge base for storing detailed knowledge, a second knowledge base for storing compiled knowledge, an inference mechanism for solving a problem by using the second knowledge base, and an analysis mechanism for extracting knowledge having high utilization from the first knowledge base and storing the extracted knowledge in the second knowledge base.

  • Patent number: 4922302
Abstract: A device for developing electrostatic images carried on a film belt in an apparatus receiving the developing device includes device location surfaces which seat on apparatus location surfaces in the apparatus to locate the device with respect to the apparatus. Film support surfaces on the device support the film belt a fixed spacing from a developer applicator. The film support surfaces are located within tight tolerances with respect to the surface of the applicator to provide accurate positioning of the applicator and film belt.
