  • Patent number: 10499205
Abstract: A system and method are described for establishing two-way communication between proxy devices that have a certain set of hardware and/or capabilities allowing the proxy devices to send and receive SMS/MMS messages using cellular networks on behalf of proxied devices that lack the hardware and/or capabilities. The proxy device can receive a message from a service provider. The message may be associated with information, and the proxy device can determine a recipient of the message based at least in part on the information. The proxy device can determine whether delivery of the message to the recipient is restricted and, if not, transmit the message the proxied device and/or the recipient.

  • Patent number: 10498688
Abstract: A method for providing priority notification analysis on a mobile communications device, includes receiving a notification associated with a software application accessible by the mobile communications device and continues with the mobile device transmitting the notification to one or more computing devices that includes one or more modules configured to classify natural language. The method continues with the mobile communications device receiving a priority score associated with the notification that is generated by the one or more computing devices that includes one or more modules configured to classify natural language and in response to determining that the priority score compares favorably to a threshold priority score, rendering the notification for display by the mobile communications device to indicate that the notification meets the threshold priority score.

  • Patent number: 10492063
Abstract: A computing system may automatically determine if data traffic of an individual network cell, or other relatively small portion of a network, is sufficiently complex so as to desirably maintain privacy of individual users of the network. Data traffic, which may include phone calls, text messaging, Internet browsing, and so on, of a network cell in a rural area may experience a relatively low volume of data traffic. On the other hand, a cell tower in a city may experience data traffic of hundreds or so individual users during a one-day period. Data traffic of such relatively high volume may be sufficiently complex and may be aggregated and used for data analytics.

  • Patent number: 10477410
Abstract: A process for selecting frequency channel(s) used by a network node (20) operating in an unlicensed band is disclosed. To that end, a network node (20) analyzes a signal received for each of multiple frequency channels using autocorrelation techniques, and thus without first demodulating the signals, to determine what types of wireless communication devices (32) are contributing to the load of each frequency channel. The network node (20) then selects one of the frequency channels for scheduling communications in the unlicensed band with a wireless communication device (30), where the selection is responsive not only to the estimated load, but also to the identified types of other wireless communication devices (32).

  • Patent number: 10420073
Abstract: Embodiments use the principles of self-organizing networks to allocate resources to allow spectrum owners to share spectrum with wireless carriers according to defined license conditions. A spectrum licensee holds the licensing conditions of the spectrum licensed by the spectrum owners. This licensed spectrum is referred to as secondary spectrum. A self-organizing network server requests access to secondary spectrum. The spectrum licensee grants access to the secondary spectrum along with the licensing conditions for access. The self-organizing network server monitors the conditions associated with the license and/or delegates the responsibility for monitoring conditions associated with the license to others. When the license conditions are met, enhanced Node B systems may begin using the secondary spectrum according to the license conditions. When the license conditions are no longer met, enhanced Node B systems discontinue use of the secondary spectrum.

  • Patent number: 10397892
Abstract: Implementations of a registration procedure are described. The registration procedure includes a Access and Mobility Function (AMF) selection procedure and a Session Management Function (SMF) selection procedure. The AMF receives a Non-Access Stratum (NAS) registration request pertaining a User Equipment (UE). At least partially in response to the registration request: the AMF registers the UE on the network; and establishes a Protocol Data Unit (PDU) session for the UE. The AMF transmits a registration response to the UE. An access node of the network receives a Radio Resource Control (RRC) registration request from a User Equipment (UE). At least partially in response to the registration request: The access node selects an AMF, and forwards a corresponding Non-Access Stratum (NAS) registration request to the selected AMF. The NAS registration request includes PDU session request information pertaining to the UE.

  • Patent number: 10390309
Abstract: The present invention provides a system and method for optimizing power consumption in mobile devices. The system comprises a speech codec encoder module and a speech codec decoder module. The number of CPU/DSP/VLIW processor cycles taken to encode and decode the speech signals are significantly reduced to draw lower current by the mobile device. The significant reduction of processor cycles in the speech codec modules enables reduction of power consumption in the talk time. Thus, the invention provides a simple method of optimizing power consumption by reducing number of processor cycles to compress/decompress speech signal of the speech codec modules in mobile devices.

  • Patent number: 10382969
Abstract: Methods and apparatus of resource allocation (RA) for low cost machine communication type (LC-MTC) user equipments (UEs) are provided. A UE obtains one or multiple sets of resources in a mobile communication network. Each set of resources belongs to a narrow sub-band in a wider channel bandwidth, wherein the narrow sub-band comprises a plurality of contiguous physical resource blocks (PRBs). The UE determines a first set of resources from the one or multiple sets of resources based on a physical layer control signaling and transmits or receives radio signals using the first set of resources within a predefined duration. In a coverage extension mode, the UE determines a second set of resources according to a hopping pattern, while the first and the second sets of resources are occupied for transmission at different radio subframes. The UE then transmits or receives radio signals using the second set of resources.
