The buried region and semiconductor substrate form a zener diode which sets the trigger voltage for the lateral thyristors.

    Abstract: A switching power regulator and method for recovering the regulator from an unregulated state while preventing overshoot of an output voltage is provided. The regulator includes a dropout detector, a sample-and-hold circuit, a voltage offset circuit and a soft start circuit. When the regulator enters an unregulated state, the dropout detector detects when a pulse width modulation (PWM) signal stops toggling. The sample-and-hold circuit and soft start circuit are used to effectively clamp the voltage at the output of an error amplifier. This causes the output of the error amplifier to regulate around a desired voltage so that the regulator recovers from the unregulated state with little or no overshoot of the output voltage. In another embodiment, a method for recovering from the unregulated state is provided.

The controller includes a load current detection circuit that receives a part of a resonance current of the resonance circuit, performs averaging and outputs a load current signal, and a standby detection circuit that receives the feedback signal and the load current signal, and determines that the load is in a standby mode upon detecting that the load current signal is lower than a first threshold and the feedback signal is lower than a second threshold, and is in a normal mode upon detecting that the feedback signal continues to be higher than the second threshold for more than a predetermined time.

    Abstract: Three-phase interleaved LLC and CLLC resonant converters, with integrated magnetics, are described. In various examples, the primary sides of the phases in the converters rely upon a half-bridge configuration and include resonant networks coupled to each other in delta-connected or common Y-node configurations. The secondary sides of the phases can rely upon a full-bridge configurations and are coupled in parallel. In one example, the transformers of the phases in the converters are integrated into one magnetic core. By changing the interleaving structure between the primary and secondary windings in the transformers, resonant inductors of the phases can also be integrated into the same magnetic core. A multi-layer PCB can be used as the windings for the integrated magnetics.

In applying dead beat control to the multi-phase interleaving, constant current control is performed using combined current of the respective phase current values, and the pulse widths ?T(k) is computed under this constant current control, thereby preventing variation of the pulse widths ?T(k) between the phases, and achieving stable power control. Accordingly, the pulse power control becomes adaptable to wideband. Furthermore, wideband control is possible also in two-level pulse power control that performs control by switching at high frequency between High-level power and Low-level power.

A dielectric thin film is superimposed across the bonding surface of MESC in order to adjust the relative permittivity between the semiconductive wafer to the MESC. This adjustment in the relative permittivity allows the MESC to further adhere the semiconductive wafer to the MESC.
