  • Patent number: 6471404
Abstract: A bearing assembly (2) comprises an outer shell (3) providing a pair of coaxial annular surfaces (4a, 5a) spaced apart-and facing inwardly towards each other, and an inner shell (7) within the outer shell, the inner shell providing a pair of coaxial annular surfaces (8a, 9a), each of which faces outwardly towards one of the inwardly-facing annular surfaces of the outer shell and is arranged substantially coaxially with, and adjacent to, its associated inwardly-facing annular surface. The inner shell (7) is capable of movement relative to the outer shell (3) in an axial direction and by inclination to the outer shell. Each of the said inwardly-facing annular surfaces (4a, 5a) and/or its associated outwardly-facing annular surface (8a, 9a) has one or more channels (13, 14) arranged to extend around the surface. The bearing assembly (2) also comprises means (17-21) for supplying a fluid from a high pressure source to each of the said channels (13, 14) through flow resistance means (15, 16).

  • Patent number: 6305506
Abstract: Electrically operated braking system with a motor-driven disc brake including an electric motor for braking an automotive vehicle wheel, and a motor control device controlling the electric motor, the disc brake further including a disc rotor having a friction surface, a friction pad movable for contact with the friction surface to restrict rotation of the disc rotor, a pad support mechanism for supporting the friction pad movably in a direction intersecting the friction surface, a pad pressing mechanism including the electric motor and a pressing member, the electric motor producing a drive force for moving the pressing member to force the friction pad against the disc rotor, and a self-servo mechanism for providing a self-servo effect of boosting a friction force generated between the friction surface and the friction pad, on the basis of the friction force.

  • Patent number: 6202995
Abstract: A shock absorber includes an outer tube, an inner tube having a proximal end sleeved slidably into the outer tube and a distal end extending away from the outer tube, a shaft disposed inside the inner tube, a plurality of shock absorbing elastic blocks which are mounted on the outer tube for positioning resiliently the distal end away from the outer tube and which are sleeved around the shaft inside the inner tube without contacting the inner tube, each block having an inner tubular part sleeved around the shaft, and an outer tubular part wrapped around the inner tubular part. The inner and outer tubular parts are made of rubber materials having different degrees of stiffness. The inner tubular part has a stiffness higher than that of the inner tubular part to resist and limit impact pressure acting on the outer tubular part, thereby reducing deformation of the outer tubular part along radial directions and preventing the blocks from contacting the inner tube upon shock.

  • Patent number: 6170922
Abstract: A simple hand held carbon dioxide applicator having a pressurized carbon dioxide cartridge is used to release spring applied hydraulically released brakes. The hydraulic line extending between the hydraulic pump and the brake control valve is provided with a first coupler of a quick coupling with the corresponding second coupler being hydraulically positioned between the hydraulic line and the pump. An auxiliary line is provided having an auxiliary coupler identical to the second coupler so that the auxiliary line can be attached to the first coupler. The auxiliary line is also provided with a gas check valve in the form of a schraeder valve to which the hand held carbon dioxide applicator is pneumatically coupled.
