  • Patent number: 7815134
Abstract: A control system for minimizing overall water use in a food waste handling system while maximizing flow rate when needed by controlling a flow of water into the handling system based on or in response to a physical presence of an operator. The control system substantially automatically senses, detects, or otherwise determines the presence of the operator, wherein such presence is assumptively associated with use of the waste handling system (i.e., the deposition of waste thereinto), and, in response to said presence, automatically controls the flow of water accordingly and for a pre-established period of time following cessation of said presence in order to facilitate the on-going handling process.

  • Patent number: 7810747
Abstract: A device for reducing solids and increasing pressure in a fluid handling system has comminution and inducer sections in a housing upstream of a pump impeller. A rotor has a hub with a small inlet diameter and a larger outlet diameter and a helical rotor blade with its blade pitch angle progressively increasing from inlet to outlet as a polynomial function. The comminutor section has a larger diameter than the inducer section and comminutor vanes extending inward forming a vane edge effective diameter equal to the inducer section diameter. The rotor blade turning within the closing fitting cage of vane edges provides a crushing and shearing action to solids in the fluid flow. Cutouts on the blade edge provide additional crushing and shearing action against the vanes. The fluid passageway sectional area at the outlet is bigger than the throat of the downstream main impeller.

  • Patent number: 7793871
Abstract: The invention comprises a process for activating drugs by means of high-energy co-grinding of the drug with a pharmaceutical carrier, characterized by the use of a vibrational mill equipped with means that regulate the vibration frequency. The process, performed by modifying the frequency of vibration and keeping its amplitude constant, produces drug/carrier composites with a constant particle size in which the degree of drug activation increases in proportion to the frequency applied. The invention also includes a vibrational mill suitably modified to perform the process described.

  • Patent number: 7793874
Abstract: A grinder including a hollow base, a receptacle, an automatic open/close control device, a grinding unit, and a housing. The automatic open/close control device has a follower member, a bottom cover, a position-limitation structure, and a torsion spring connected between the follower member and the bottom cover. When a friction force produced during grinding of the grinder is greater than a torsional force of a torsion spring, the follower member is rotated relative to the bottom cover from a first position where radial blocks of the follower member block outlets of the bottom cover to a second position where the radial blocks of the follower member are moved away from the outlets of the bottom cover and guide slots of the follower member are moved into alignment with the outlets respectively for discharge of ground powder out of the grinder through the guide slots and the outlets.

  • Patent number: 7779875
Abstract: The invention concerns a method for peeling veneer from a log (2). Veneer (4) is peeled tangentially from the circumferential surface of a log rotated around its longitudinal axis under conditions determined by the distance (knife gap) between the knife (3) and the nose bar pressing the surface of the log immediately in front of the cutting point. The peeling knife as well as the nose bar is moved towards the rotation axis of the log corresponding the proceeding of the peeling. At the ending stage of the peeling, the distance between the peeling knife and the nose bar is reduced substantially in accordance with the thickness of the veneer being peeled.

  • Patent number: 7780102
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a wood chipper that has a feed roller driven by a hydraulic motor. Hydraulic fluid under pressure is provided to the motor through a two-stage pump, providing separate flows of fluid under pressure. The flows of the pump stages are combined for normal operation of the chipper. A bypass that will bypass the flow from one pump stage when the pressure of the fluid under pressure driving the motor exceeds a pre-selected level from increased load on the feed roller is provided. When the bypass is open the feed roller is slowed to reduce the feed rate of material into the chipper, and when the feed roller loads reduce, the flows will again be combined to speed up the feed roller.

  • Patent number: 7766265
Abstract: A swinging device for increasing the capacity of a trash bin includes a pushing assembly penetrating through the shredder body, a stirring board disposed at the bottom of the shredder body, and a shaft connecting the pushing assembly and the stirring board. The shaft converts the vertical displacement motion of the pushing assembly into a swinging motion of the stirring board. The shredded paper chips which typically form in a mound are thus pushed to the side and flattened. This helps reduce the space occupied by paper chips and increases the capacity of the trash bin, thus leading to less frequent emptying of the bin.

  • Patent number: 7762485
Abstract: A shredder holds a cutting blade assembly including a motor and a gear box inside its case and has a trash bin for collecting paper chips underneath the cutting blade assembly. A swinging board is provided in the vicinity of the paper outlet of the case. The swinging board is connected to a transmission axis via a shaft. One end of the transmission axis has a passive gear for receiving the rotating power from the cutting blade assembly via gears. As the transmission axis turns, the swinging board is driven by the shaft to perform a reciprocal motion so that the paper chips falling from the blades are evenly distributed over the trash bin. Paper chips accumulate in an even way to maximize the space in the trash bin. This prevents the formation of chip mountain and thus the problem of paper jams.
