  • Patent number: 9809941
Abstract: A drainage unit has a plurality of modules defining channels with arced or flared surfaces longitudinally spaced from one another for installation into a ground excavation. The spaced modules may be aligned on a longitudinally support pipe that may provide a fluid connection between the channels. The adjacent surfaces of successive modules are spaced from each other a non-constant distance across the laterally transverse thickness or height. Filtration fabric that allows fluid flow therethrough while substantially filtering surrounding soil or other back fill is wrapped around each of modules. The flared and/or arced configuration of the modules defining channels allows for increased surface area interfacing between the channels and soil and a corresponding reduction in laterally transverse footprint.

  • Patent number: 9783944
Abstract: A system and method to create or elevate a berm of a liquid retention facility by placement of lightweight fill material anchored by an impervious liner material(s). The impervious liner material is integral to a water retention system such as a containment system of a retention pond. The system and method can also be used to elevate the liquid retention height of a levee in combination with impervious liner retention material. By constructing the berm system on an existing levee, the effective height of the levee can be increased. The lightweight fill material provides the shape of the berm or levee extension. The liquid impervious liner material provides a watertight surface, the media for joining of the lightweight fill material, and the anchoring of the lightweight fill material to the existing berm or levee structure.

  • Patent number: 9777556
Abstract: Adaptive stimulation systems combine impulse-generated swept-frequency stimulation vibration with cyclically-varying hydraulic pressure to provide adaptive down-hole stimulation. Swept-frequency stimulation vibration arises from cyclical shifts of the power spectral density (PSD) of each stimulator's vibration (via closed-loop control of rebound cycle time). PSD's are adjusted for resonance excitation, fracturing and/or analysis of geologic materials at varying distances from a wellbore. And closed-loop control incorporates backscatter vibration from stimulated geologic material. Stimulators can be arranged singly or in spatial arrays of multiple stimulators, each stimulator generating vibration in bursts comprising a plurality of vibration frequencies. Timed signals from a programmable controller affect directional propagation of combined vibration wave fronts from a stimulator array. As fracturing proceeds to smaller (e.g.
