The media system sends a request for identification of additional content to a server system. The request is based at least in part on the comparison fingerprint. The media system receives a response to the request, including information enabling additional content to be selected for display at the media system based at least in part on the identification of the received sequence of media content, and presents a displayed sequence of media content that includes at least a portion of the received sequence of media content and at least a portion of the additional content.

The content server may upload second content to overhead client terminals for local storage and subsequent playback. Each client terminal may synchronize to a defined reference point for initiating playback of the first content and of the second content. Each client terminal may operate independently of each other and the content server subsequent to initiation of the playback. Subsequent to the initiation of the playback and in response to a system disruption to the playback at a client terminal, the client terminal may resume the playback of the corresponding content at the client terminal at a point at which the disruption occurred. The resumption may be independent of the playback in other client terminals.

Further, classifying the contiguous set of packets as a packet batch when a packet that traversed the network path right before the contiguous set of packets traversed the network path has a positive DIAD time. In addition, a size of a next probe train of packets that are to be sent to traverse the network path can be adjusted based on the size of the contiguous set of packets. Accurately identifying packet batching can enable more precise computer network bandwidth estimation and network traffic engineering solutions.

The distributed architecture may also allow for delivering the content stream jointly with voice data services, such as those provided in a Long-Term Evolution network or other network.
