  • Patent number: 9065962
Abstract: A book readout system and method for reading out information described in a book at a high speed, while the book, in a bound form, is flipped through. A page state measuring unit (2) measures a page state of a book being flipped through. A book image acquisition unit (1) comprises a plurality of first cameras (11) which respectively acquire book images with respect to a page of the book, from mutually different directions, for a plurality of number of times. A data processing unit (3) corrects the book image acquired by the book image acquisition unit (1) using the information of the page state of the book measured by the page state measuring unit (2).

  • Patent number: 9063676
Abstract: The page descriptions in a document description describe individual document pages. Some of those pages require special processing. Special processing is accomplished by applying subtasks to page descriptions. The subtasks are associated with subset criteria. A subtask is applied to a page description if and only if the page description meets a subset criterion associated with that subtask. In essence, subtasks are prepress operations applied to and limited to the scope of individual page descriptions with the document description. As such, a modified prepress module is ideal for subtask application. In general, page descriptions are evaluated against the subset criteria and the subtasks applied before the more generalized prepress processing converts the document description into a print ready document description.

  • Patent number: 9058140
Abstract: When a printer apparatus is allowed to execute a printing of a document using paper based on a print setting set by the user, the following processes are executed in order to allow the user to recognize a paper saving print setting. Whether or not there is a print setting which can save an amount of paper compared to the print setting set by the user is determined. If it is determined that a paper saving print setting exists, the user is notified of such a paper saving print setting.

  • Patent number: 9060087
Abstract: In a method of controlling an image processing apparatus having a rechargeable secondary battery, in response to reception of a job, an amount of electricity stored in the secondary battery is detected and, whether the detected amount of electricity exceeds a specified value is determined. If it is determined that the stored electricity amount exceeds the specified value, a volatile memory is selected as a storage destination of information to be stored when the job is executed. On the other hand, if it is determined that the stored electricity amount does not exceed the specified value, a nonvolatile memory is selected as the storage destination of the information to be stored when the job is executed.

  • Patent number: 9049315
Abstract: A method, system and computer-usable medium for ranking a networked rendering device with one or more or a set of visual cues. A client device can be configured with a rendering application in order to select and transmit a rendering job along with one or more job criteria to a back end system. Each network rendering device having one or more print capabilities can be evaluated based on the job criteria in order to generate an ‘overall ranking’ utilizing the back end system. Sorting the rendering devices based on the ‘overall ranking’ can generate a ranked list. Such ranked list can be displayed in a user interface associated with the client device based on a set of visual cues in order to permit a user to select a best-fit rendering device in a simple and efficient manner.

  • Patent number: 9047037
Abstract: A medium stores computer-executable instructions. In a case that a display instruction of a print setting screen is outputted by a first application program executed by an information processing apparatus, the instructions cause the information processing apparatus to perform: a display process for displaying the print setting screen on a display section; and a storage judgment process for judging whether a shared printing condition shared by different application programs is stored in a predetermined storage section. In a case that it is judged that the shared printing condition is not stored in the predetermined storage section, the instructions cause the information processing apparatus to perform: a shared printing condition accepting process for accepting setting of a new shared printing condition; and a storage process for storing the new shared printing condition and identification information of the first application program in the predetermined storage section being correlated with each other.

  • Patent number: 9036213
Abstract: A method for image processing a digital color image uses a single array of threshold values in a halftoning process if a total density value, which is found adding up the color density value for each of the process colors of a pixel, is lower than a predetermined density threshold. However, when the total density value exceeds the density threshold, the individual color density values are split in a basic part and an excess part, the basic parts adding up to the predetermined density threshold. In the halftoning process the basic parts still use the single array of threshold values, but the excess parts use uncorrelated arrays of threshold values that are associated with each individual process color. This provides for a balance between graininess at low color density and registration independent color rendering at high color density.
