  • Patent number: 12608514
Abstract: Computer-implemented systems and methods are described herein for determining additive manufacturing parameters in a simulation. Input data regarding a product to be generated via additive manufacturing and a beam diameter are received. Based on the input data, a characteristic dimension is determined. The beam diameter is normalized based on the characteristic dimension. Additive manufacturing parameters, such as penetration depth and absorptivity, are determined based on the normalized beam diameter and experimentally-determined trends. The manufacturing of the product is then simulated according to the additive manufacturing parameters.

  • Patent number: 12475270
Abstract: A computing device receives user input for a design of an experiment. The user input indicates respective factor identities for factors in the design of the experiment, respective response identities for responses to options for the factors in the design, and a user-defined objective for the one or more responses. Additionally, based on the user input, the computing device displays a subset of a set of multiple model types and a user-definable amount of design runs for the design. Each design run presents settings according to the design for each of the factors. The computing device also receives settings indicating a user-selected model type from the subset and a user-defined amount of design runs, and based on the settings, selects one or more design construction criteria for generating the design. The computing device then generates the design according to the design construction criteria.

  • Patent number: 12099784
Abstract: The present invention relates to the real-time simulation of sound in three-dimensional virtual environments. In particular, a geometric method based on the principles of acoustic radiosity determines the room impulse responses of a virtual environment with arbitrary polygonal surfaces. The complexity of the method is of the order of the square of the number of patches that define the virtual environment. The room impulse responses are convolved with an audio signal and output through a speaker to simulate reverberation within the virtual environment, which corresponds to a physical environment.

  • Patent number: 11986369
Abstract: Methods and systems for determining a dental treatment difficulty in digital treatment planning. The methods may include calculating tooth position changes from an initial dental model to a target dental model in a mouth quadrant of a patient's dentition. The changes in position may be determined by projecting distances between initial positions and subsequent positions of teeth onto an arch line of the initial dental model. A treatment difficulty of anterior-posterior (A-P) correction may be determined for the mouth quadrant based on an average change in position, wherein a greater average change in position is associated with a higher treatment difficulty of A-P correction. The digital treatment plan may be adjusted so that a provider skill level meets or exceeds the treatment difficulty of A-P correction.

  • Patent number: 11854127
Abstract: A computing device receives a target value for a design quality metric. The target value indicates a desired quality of a design of an experiment and is related to an input parameter by a response curve. The computing device also validates the target value as being in a feasibility range for the design quality metric, and if so, determines a candidate value for the input parameter that yields a calculated value for the design quality metric. To determine the calculated value, the computing device iteratively adjusts the candidate value until the calculated value is within a predetermined tolerance of the target value. The computing device then updates an interactive graph visually representing the calculated value for the design quality metric as a function of the candidate value for the input parameter and outputs a graph visually representing the relationship that exists between the candidate value and the calculated value.

  • Patent number: 11625514
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a numerical simulation method of pulsed laser paint removal and a use thereof. This method establishes a three-dimensional (3D) temperature field model by ANSYS software to perform a numerical simulation of nanosecond pulsed laser paint removal. A high-speed moving pulsed laser is loaded on a surface of the model in a form of heat flux, and a coordinate system is moved to realize loading on different paths. A special surface mesh screening method is used to realize loading on any surface, and it ensures that laser energy distribution on a material surface is in line with reality. In addition, an element birth/death technology is combined to remove an element that exceeds a threshold, so as to intuitively present the surface morphology after laser paint removal. The present disclosure can realize the prediction of the contour of a paint layer ablated by a pulsed laser.

  • Patent number: 11615221
Abstract: Exemplary practice of the present invention defines “sphibules” in computer-modeling the spread of a substance in a fluid medium. A “sphibule,” a modeling entity conceived and named by the present inventors, represents a discrete quantity of a substance that is propagative in a fluid medium. Every sphibule has the same size when created, the same constant geometric shape, the same constant mass, and a uniform density. Multiple sphibules are created at a prescribed rate at a source in the fluid medium. Several or many timesteps are performed to compute enlargement and relocation, in the fluid medium, of each sphibule that has been created. Through succeeding timesteps, each sphibule becomes less dense and more distant from the source. A sphibule ceases to exist when the sphibule is less dense than a prescribed minimum density of the sphibules, and/or when the sphibule travels beyond a prescribed spatial boundary of the fluid medium.
