  • Patent number: 5937602
Abstract: A ground cover with an improved resistance to degradation by freezing and thawing, a kit for the manufacture of the ground cover and a method for manufacturing such a ground cover. The ground cover has a plurality of molds each having a bottom wall and side walls. The molds have their bottom walls laying flat onto the ground and are positioned with their side walls in close adjacent relationship with respect to each other so as to fully cover the ground. Connectors of given flexibility extend through the side walls of pairs of adjacent molds in order to connect the molds to each other. A filling material is poured and hardened into said molds. The filling material acts as a covering. Once installed, the ground cover forms a network that can easily be adapted to floor surfaces of different shapes. The cover is prepared by attaching together similar units made from a kit consisting of the molds and the connectors of given flexibility.

  • Patent number: 5930967
Abstract: A finger jointed floorboard or laminatable floorboard section of two connected shorter pieces includes a relatively thick upper wear region which may be sanded without exposing the fingers forming the connection, regardless of whether or not the pieces are connected in the same longitudinal and transverse horizontal planes. The structure and orientation of this finger joint allows flooring manufacturers to maximize the yield of typically solid, good quality floorboard material and to reduce installation costs, without adversely affecting the aesthetic quality of the installed floor. In one embodiment, a finger jointed board with a central finger joint is sawed in a horizontal plane through the joint to produce two identical, laminatable floorboard sections. With a thicker starting board having two separate, spaced finger joint connections, sawing along a horizontal midplane produces two identical intermediate boards, each with a centrally located finger joint.

  • Patent number: 5921035
Abstract: An anchoring device for anchoring a shaft in relatively hard ground including an elongated shaft having a ground penetration member. The penetration member includes a coiled extension portion extending longitudinally beyond the shaft lower end to facilitate penetration of the ground when rotated in one direction. The coiled length of the extension portion is sufficiently short to resist substantial uncoiling of the coiled extension portion during penetrating movement into the relatively hard ground. In another aspect, a retaining device is provided for selective penetration of the ground at a second location spaced-apart from the first location to substantially prevent rotational movement of the shaft about the longitudinal axis for removal thereof from the ground.

  • Patent number: 5922236
Abstract: A modular forming unit for forming concrete foundation walls having a footing of rectangular cross-section includes a pair of spaced apart form members that are connected by a plurality of stabilizing spacers. The stabilizing spacers permit each complete wall forming unit to be prefabricated to precise dimensions off-site and then transported to the job site. Each pre-fabricated wall form section can then be put in place as a single unit, so that no on ground or below ground assembly is required.
