  • Patent number: 5063629
Abstract: A heel support device for use in a shoe making machine for lasting the toe and sides of a shoe upper tensioned over a last seated on a last support includes a heel support movable along a fixed guide of the machine. A drive moves the heel support along the guide in a first direction from an unloading position spaced from the last to a supporting position in contact with and supporting a heel portion of the upper tensioned about the last. After completion of a lasting operation, the drive moves the heel support along the guide in an opposite second direction to return the heel support to the unloading position. The completed last and lasted upper then are removed from the last support and a new last and upper are positioned theron for a subsequent lasting cycle.

  • Patent number: 5062177
Abstract: With a brush head (4) for deburring and brushing machines, a base plate (41) is connected to the driveshaft (2) of the machine to the moment of rotation is transmitted and several fingerlike brushes (5) arranged coaxially with driveshaft (2) are held in this base plate. Parallel with the axially movable base plate (41) there is a guide plate (42) on the same working shaft (43) through which brushes (5) project with their free length. In order to assure uniform wear on the brushes during operation, brushes (5) are mounted in base plate (41) so they can rotate, and they are driven at a rotational speed whose ratio to the rotational speed of brush head (4) amounts to a maximum of about 1:50.

  • Patent number: 5036975
Abstract: A tool box includes two casings having one end connected together by a flexible element and the other end coupled together by a retaining member. A number of slots are formed in each casing for receiving a number of tools. A retaining device has two legs resiliently coupled together by a retaining portion. The free ends of the legs are rotatably engaged to the casings. The retaining portion is engageable to the casing in order to retain the retaining device in place. A number of bent portions are formed on the legs of the retaining device and are arranged such that the bent portions press the tools in place.

  • Patent number: 5035069
Abstract: A ballet slipper and method of manufacturing the same is disclosed. The slipper has an integral shank and toe box molded from a flexible thermoplastic polymeric material which can be adjusted by the dancer to conform to her foot. The toe box has a platform at its forward end which is connected by a curved radius to the shank. A layer of resilient polymeric material lines the interior of the upper portion of the toe box and extends backwardly from the edges of the toe box. A layer of shock absorbing material covers at least a portion of the upper and lower surfaces of the shank, and the platform and curved radius of the toe box. A wicking outer covering fits over the integral shank and toe box and has an elasticized throat and a panel formed from a durable non-slip material to cover the platform and curved radius of the toe box.

  • Patent number: 5035070
Abstract: An attachment that connects a decorative logo to footwear. The logo is displayed along the lower leg outside the pant leg. The logo can be attached to either a shoe or a boot. The attachment takes the form of a U-shaped holder when being attached to a boot and the form of a L-shaped holder when being attached to a shoe. The attachment includes a vertical strip of plastic which projects upward from the footwear towards the knee on the outside of the pant leg. It is on top of this vertical strip that the decorative logo is placed. The logo can be displayed at various heights by varying the length of the vertical strip and the attachment is painted so that it blends into the background of the pant leg. Another benefit provided by the attachment is that it restrains the pant leg at a height above ground level preventing the soiling of the pant leg.

  • Patent number: 5033213
Abstract: An item of wearing apparel, such as a ski shoe or boot, provided with an energy source and an energy consuming device, such as a heater, and a mechanism for automatically terminating the energy supply as soon as the wearer removes the item of apparel. More specifically, the ski shoe or boot includes a shell base on which is journalled at least one movable upper element, such as a rear spoiler or a front cuff, to permit insertion and removal of the boot, wherein the boot includes a device controlling the energy supply of the consuming device. The boot further includes a linkage device between the movable upper element and the device controlling the energy supply so as to allow the energy supply of the consuming device only when the movable element of the boot is closed and to automatically cause the fuel supply to be shut off as soon as the movable element of the boot is moved toward the open position.

  • Patent number: 5001849
Abstract: The boot comprises a shaft (6) which is articulated on the shell and the lower edge of which is elbowed towards the interior, this elbowed part having a gap located below and opposite a stop which is integral with the shell. This gap can be closed at will by means of a movable sealing piece (21) which allows or does not allow the shaft to swivel forwards on account of the stop. This makes it possible to modify the action of the boot when bending.
