  • Patent number: 4842187
Abstract: Described is an opaque, biaxially draw-oriented thermoplastic film for candy twist wrapping. The film is formed from a polymer mixture comprising from about 40 to about 60% by weight of polypropylene and from about 35 to about 55% by weight of polystyrene, relative to the total weight of the mixture. The mixture additionally comprises from about 5 to about 15% by weight of a filler material, relative to the total weight of the mixture.

  • Patent number: 4830899
Abstract: A light reflection material comprises transparent body of organic glass having therein a thin through hole or holes whose inner wall is smooth. This material is useful for an ornamental material, a lighting material, eye-obstructing material, shading material, etc. This material is manufactured by pouring a raw material into a mold within which a thread or threads of synthetic fiber are straightly or curvedly set according to aimed pattern and pulling the thread or threads out of the formed body to form a thin hole or holes or pulling the thread or threads to separate them from the inner wall of the hole or holes. As a result of it, a hole or holes of a shape and number corresponding to those of the thread or threads are formed in the formed body.

  • Patent number: 4797313
Abstract: Essentially organic, non-metallic ribbon useful as a twist tie comprising polymeric material exhibiting glass/rubber transitional behavior. Polymeric ribbons deformed under tensile stress at 25.degree. exhibit yield stress between about 500 and 9,000 psi. Discrete lengths of ribbon are capable of being disengagedly formed into fastly held twist ties by rotationally deforming terminal ends of said lengths about each other. Ribbons can comprise polymers, such as polyalkylene terephthalates, polyvinylchlorides, styrene-acrylonitrile copolymers and polystyrenes. Optional polymeric materials include elastomeric impact modifiers and plasticizers. Process for the production of such ribbon. Methods for using such ribbon.

  • Patent number: 4786538
Abstract: Metal tellurium is vaporized under the atmosphere of oxygen gas and/or inert gas formed into a plasma by a high frequency power to thereby form a tellurium oxide (TeOx, 0.ltoreq.X.ltoreq.2) layer. The tellurium oxide layer formed in accordance with the present method is stabilized, and a suboxide having a high sensitivity which has been considered to be unsuitable as an optical recording medium due to the lack of stability can be utilized.High frequency power, gas pressure and vaporization speed of metal tellurium can be varied to thereby vary the value X of TeOx from 0 to 2. When the TeOx films whose value X thicknesswise is different are formed continuously within one and the same vessel and the vaporization speed is made to zero, oxidization of a film surface may be carried out. Thereby, the TeO.sub.2 film may be formed on the surface, and an optical recording medium may be obtained which is extremely stable and has excellent adhesive properties between the substrates and between the layers.

  • Patent number: 4762739
Abstract: A structural element made of injection moldable or castable polymeric material comprising an external tubular element, an inner tubular element essentially concentric with the latter and integrally connected with the latter by ribs arranged in planes extending essentially in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the structural element, characterized in that the ribs (3) have a radius (R.sub.1) verging into the bore wall (7) of the external tubular element (1) which is considerably less than the radius of curvature (R.sub.2) of the bore wall (7) section connecting the radii (R.sub.1) of two adjacent ribs (3), the radius of curvature (R.sub.2) being smaller than the radius (R.sub.3) of the circle circumscribing the bore wall (7).
