  • Patent number: 9969190
Abstract: A cutter can move a movable knife by two cutter drive gears without the movable knife becoming skewed. The cutter 10 of a mobile printer 1 has a fixed knife 11, and a cutter drive mechanism 32 that moves the movable knife 31 straight to and away from the fixed knife 11. The cutter drive mechanism 32 has two cutter drive gears 51 that are driven synchronously, and a cutter drive plate 54 disposed between the two cutter drive gears 51 and the movable knife 31. The two cutter drive gears 51 cause the cutter drive plate 54 to move to and away from the movable knife 31 on a longitudinal axis Y (direction of travel), thereby moving the movable knife 31 to and away from the cutter drive plate 54. If the cutter drive plate 54 becomes skewed when the two cutter drive gears 51 move the cutter drive plate 54, the guide mechanism 81 prevents skewing of the movable knife 31.

  • Patent number: 9962778
Abstract: A table saw includes a safety system to protect a user from injury. The safety system detects a sensed condition and rapidly moves a saw blade away from the user. The safety system includes a dual ratchet mechanism to prevent the blade from rebounding back above a work surface after an initial rapid retraction of the blade. The table saw has a swing arm that rotates to move the blade below the work surface. A first ratchet engages a first contact surface of the swing arm after rotation of the swing arm over a first range of angular displacements to prevent counter rotation of the swing arm. A second ratchet engages a second contact surface of the swing arm after rotation of the swing arm over a second range of angular displacements to prevent counter rotation of the swing arm.

  • Patent number: 9925619
Abstract: A hexagonal single crystal wafer is produced from a hexagonal single crystal ingot. A separation start point is formed by setting a focal point of a laser beam inside the ingot at a predetermined depth from the upper surface of the ingot, which depth corresponds to a thickness of the wafer to be produced. The laser beam is applied to the upper surface of the ingot while relatively moving the focal point and the ingot to thereby form a modified layer parallel to the upper surface of the ingot and form cracks extending from the modified layer along a c-plane, thus forming a separation start point. The wafer is separated by immersing the ingot in water and then applying ultrasonic vibration to the ingot, thereby separating a plate-shaped member having a thickness corresponding to the thickness of the wafer from the ingot.

  • Patent number: 9919437
Abstract: A personal care device comprising a main housing, a hair-cutting module displaceable with respect to the main housing against spring force in a direction parallel to a main axis, and a sensor comprising a first sensor unit connected to the main housing and a second sensor unit connected to the hair-cutting module. The hair cutting module is also tiltable in directions relative to the main housing. By measuring average displacement of the hair cutting module at multiple locations, the sensor is sensitive only to displacement parallel to the main axis. The sensor measures such displacement and determines the force needed to effect such displacement. If the force is larger than a predetermined value, a warning signal will be produced.

  • Patent number: 9914232
Abstract: A rotary knife fixture for cutting vegetable products into spiral shapes. The knife fixture includes a blade holder driven rotatably within a hydraulic product flow path. The blade holder includes at least one cutting blade, wherein the blade is twisted with a sharpened leading edge set at a desired pitch angle. By controlling the pitch angle of the blade in relation to the blade rotational speed and velocity at which the potato travels along the hydraulic flow path, the resultant spiral cut shape is selected. By using multiple cutting blades at known axially spaced positions and selecting the angular position of each cutting blade in succession, the number of spiral shapes cut from each potato is selected.
