  • Patent number: 6741264
Abstract: A method of generating an audible indication of data stored in a database and representing a group of data points. Preselected audible sounds are assigned to indicate various degrees of variation in the values of the data for the respective data points from normal or expected values for such data. A visual display is created having an arrangement indicative of the data points providing the data in the database. The visual display is scanned, and for each scanned data point the preselected audible sound is generated which indicates the degree of variation in the value of the data from the normal value for such data. Display figure icons can be included in the visual display, corresponding to the data points, each icon indicating the degree of variation in the value of the data for the corresponding data point from the normal or expected value for such data, thus providing a visual indication of the value of the data for the data point presently being scanned, as well as an audible indication.

  • Patent number: 6686937
Abstract: A method within a graphical user interface (GUI) development environment for providing cross-pane visual display correlation between widgets that reside on different visual display panes. A GUI development tool is utilized to specify a visual display relation between an influenced widget and an influencing widget. The influencing widget is displayed within a first display pane and the influenced widget is displayed within a second display pane. The specified visual display relation is encoded within a GUI development description of the second display pane such that visual continuity between the influenced widget and the influencing widget is observed when an end user traverses from the first to the second display pane.

  • Patent number: 6686935
Abstract: METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR OBJECT KERNINGA graphics software application provides the capability to select a plurality of graphical objects and automatically align them and adjust the spacing between them. The data processing system, under instruction of a program, responds to an instruction by the user to kern a plurality of selected graphical objects. The system aligns the objects and prompts the user to designate a distance adjustment. The system then automatically adjusts the distances between each pair of adjacent objects. Using the techniques of the present invention, a user may enter a large number of graphical objects and align them and precisely set their locations with respect to one another. Hence, a large number of graphical objects may be created and aligned quickly and efficiently without the need for numerous individual measurements.

  • Patent number: 6639609
Abstract: A graphical access counter for encouraging users to repeatedly access a homepage is provided. In a flower-counter-number display area of the access counter, a flower counter value incremented by each access and reset at a predetermined period is displayed. In a flower-counter-image display area, a plant image growing in accordance with the flower counter value is displayed. In a cumulative-counter display area, a cumulative counter value incremented by each access is displayed. In a comment display area, a message from a sever is displayed. The flower counter value and the cumulative counter value are incremented only by one a day even if the corresponding homepage is accessed a plurality of times within the same day.

  • Patent number: 6624833
Abstract: An input interface system provides gesture-based user control of an application running on a computer by classification of user gestures in image signals. A given one of the image signals is processed to determine if it contains one of a number of designated user gestures, e.g., a point gesture, a reach gesture and a click gesture, each of the gestures being translatable to a particular control signal for controlling the application. If the image signal is determined to contain a point gesture, further processing is performed to determine position and orientation information for a pointing finger of a hand of the user and its corresponding shadow. The position and orientation information for the pointing finger and its shadow are then utilized to generate a three-dimensional pose estimate for the pointing figure in the point gesture.
