  • Patent number: 8935352
Abstract: Methods and systems to minimize the number of messages transmitted between a client and a server in a client-server network. The messages may be error messages, and may be associated with a log such as an error log. The client requests permission of the server to transmit a message(s) to the server. Upon receipt of the request, the server provides the client with a filter, which may include a filter table with a filter parameter(s). The server may provide the filter in real time and/or without the client or server having to go off-line. The client uses the filter to filter at least a selected message from the message(s). Once the client has filtered the selected message the client transmits the selected message and/or the associated log of the selected message to the server.

  • Patent number: 8892691
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses provide real-time or near real-time streaming of content, specified in one or more playlists, using transfer protocols such as an HTTP compliant protocol. In one embodiment, a method can execute a user application on a client device to present media files and to control presentation of the media files. The method can further run a media serving process on the client device to retrieve a playlist specifying the media files and a media source at which the media files are available, to retrieve the media files from the media source, and to decode the media files retrieved. The media serving process can call the user application to process a custom URL in order to obtain an object referred to by the custom URL.

  • Patent number: 8856290
Abstract: A method of exchanging configuration information needed to authenticate an unregistered Wi-Fi client device to an access point of a wireless local area network is described. A SSID of the AP and a temporary hidden secondary SSID of the AP are enabled for a preset time period with a residential gateway providing the AP of the WLAN. A message is received in the form of IP UDP packets by the residential gateway to the temporary hidden secondary SSID of the AP during the preset time period requesting network configuration information. The residential gateway transmits the requested network configuration information via return message in the form of IP UDP packets on the temporary hidden secondary SSID of the AP. Additional methods and apparatus are described.

  • Patent number: 8850056
Abstract: In a computer communication network, affinity between a client and server is established dynamically. The client desiring affinity sends a request to establish affinity to an available server. The server can then respond by sending the client a redirect to an elected server, with which the client already has affinity. If there is no such elected server, the server establishes affinity between itself and the client.

  • Patent number: 8819253
Abstract: A message generation mechanism for a network interface is provided. The message generation mechanism is operable to generate a message which includes data for signing and authentication procedure instructions. The message is for conveying information to a user device for presentation to a user via a user interface of the user device. The data is arranged in the message in a manner which permits the user device to utilize the data in an automated signing procedure. The automated signing procedure may be a digital signing procedure. The data for signing may be random data, pseudo-random data or secure random data and may be arranged in the message in a manner which avoids presentation to the user.

  • Patent number: 8812724
Abstract: A video consisting of data organized in the form of a plurality of images is transmitted in a communication network. The method comprises a step of coding images with motion compensation, which consists in compressing the images of the video and in creating dependencies between compressed images, a step of scheduling the transmission of packets representing the compressed images, which consists in sending the compressed images over the network in a selected order, and a step of controlling the rate of the video. At least one of reconsidering the selected order of sending already compressed but not yet transmitted images and deleting at least one compressed image is performed at the time of coding a new image. Furthermore, the dependencies between the new image to be compressed and the compressed images are selected by taking into account the reconsidered sending order at the time of coding the new image.

  • Patent number: 8743197
Abstract: A jump safety system for communicating an optimal velocity for a jump is described. The system includes a radar component, a memory, a processor, a velocity processing module, an increase velocity status, a decrease velocity status, a maintain velocity status, and a light emitting component. The radar component transmits and receives radio signals and generates a velocity output. Additionally, the radar component is positioned to determine velocity along a path associated with the jump. The velocity processing module is controlled by the processor and determines an optimal velocity range for a landing area. The maintain velocity status determined by the velocity processing module indicates the velocity output. The light emitting component is configured to communicate at least one of the increase velocity status, the decrease velocity status, or the maintain velocity status.
