  • Patent number: 5155939
Abstract: The instrument to be ground is positioned lying on the brackets of a support, with its longitudinal axis horizontal and parallel to the plane of a base plate of the apparatus. A grinding stone, mounted on a carrier arranged in such manner as to be able to slide on the base plate is moved opposite the end of the blade of the instrument while rubbing lightly against the cutting face of this blade, thus acting to grind that face. The inclination of the grinding stone is adjustable according to the configuration of the instrument, a dial clinometer enabling this inclination to be checked and to determine it as a function of indications which will be furnished, to this end, by the manufacturer of the instrument.

  • Patent number: 5150548
Abstract: The method disclosed is for treating an article, i.e., polishing an article, of the type with a rotating vessel where the article to be treated is fastened in relation to the vessel. To enable the article to be treated to be placed in position without the need to remove the particles from the vessel, the article is moved between a loading and unloading position, where the article is outside the mass of particles, and a working position, where it is subjected to the action of the particles to polish and strip pieces of furniture.

  • Patent number: 5142825
Abstract: An elongated portable frame is provided including front and rear ends and a mid-length laterally outwardly projecting tubular handle for containing a battery pack. The front end of the frame journals a saw blade therefrom and the saw blade is driven by an electric motor supported from the frame. A pair of rearwardly retractable jaws are disposed on opposite sides of the forward periphery of the saw blade and are opposed by a rearwardly retractable jaw structure disposed forwardly of the forward limit positions of movement of the jaw members and an actuator for the jaw structure is disposed immediately forward of the handle for engagement and rearward displacement by the forefinger of a hand encircling the handle, whereby the jaw structure may be shifted rearwardly to initially clamp a work piece to be cut between the jaws and the jaw structure and thereafter utilized to rearwardly advance the work piece to be cut relative to the saw blade.

  • Patent number: 5134810
Abstract: An abrasive cleaning machine specifically constructed for cleaning pipes. The machine is mounted on an elevated portion of a previously buried pipe and is moved along the pipe to effect cleaning of the pipe. The machine basically includes a simple housing which carries a plurality of blast wheels specifically positioned to provide a frustoconical curtain of abrasive particles through which the pipe being cleaned passes. Suitable wear plates are provided to prevent undue wear on adjacent parts of the cleaning machine. Spent abrasive particles and removed material are collected at the bottom of the cleaning machine in a collection trough through which there runs a lower run of an endless belt. The belt is of a wire mesh construction so that abrasive particles and removed material freely passes through the belt. The belt carries buckets which are so configurated that when the buckets reach a top horizontal run of the belt, the collected materials within the bucket are discharged from the bucket through the belt.

  • Patent number: 5105582
Abstract: The present invention is a golf cup cutter sharpener. The sharpener consists of one or more grinding wheels affixed in a rigid housing. The grinding wheels are cylindrical metal elements covered by a removable, and thus replaceable, abrasive surface. The wheels are belt driven, and powered by a standard electrical motor. The grinding wheels are aligned according to the geometry of the sharpener. The angle of the wheels is chosen so as to provide the proper angle of grinding to create a sharp cutting edge. If two wheels are utilized, the wheels are positioned to contact two non-adjacent scallops of the sharpener. A mandrel holds the cup cutter in place while the sharpening operation is taking place.
