Abstract: Techniques for identifying pixel groups representing objects in an image include using images having multiple groups of pixels, grouped such that each pixel group represents a zone of interest and determining a pixel value for pixels within each pixel group based on a comparison of pixel values for each individual pixel within the group. A probability heat map is derived from the pixel group values using a first neural network using the pixel group values as input and produces the heat map having a set of graded values indicative of the probability that the respective pixel group includes an object of interest. A zone of interest is identified based on whether the groups of graded values meet a determined probability threshold objects of interest are identified within the at least one zone of interest by way of a second neural network.

  • Patent number: 11663837
Abstract: Techniques for meter text detection and recognition are described herein. In an example, an application receives a first image, depicting information displayed by the meter, from an imaging device. One or more qualities of the first image may be assessed, such as focus or lighting. A setting of the imaging device may be adjusted. The adjusting may be based at least in part on the assessed quality of the first image and one or more characteristics of an optical character recognition (OCR) algorithm. Accordingly, the settings of the image-capture device are tuned to the needs of the OCR algorithm. A second image may be captured, depicting information displayed by the meter, using the imaging device adjusted according to the adjusted setting. The OCR algorithm may be applied to the second image to obtain an alphanumeric value associated with the second image. The alphanumeric value is obtained from the OCR algorithm.

  • Patent number: 11657629
Abstract: Methods and systems are presented for extracting categorizable information from an image using a graph that models data within the image. Upon receiving an image, a data extraction system identifies characters in the image. The data extraction system then generates bounding boxes that enclose adjacent characters that are related to each other in the image. The data extraction system also creates connections between the bounding boxes based on locations of the bounding boxes. A graph is generated based on the bounding boxes and the connections such that the graph can accurately represent the data in the image. The graph is provided to a graph neural network that is configured to analyze the graph and produce an output. The data extraction system may categorize the data in the image based on the output.

  • Patent number: 11657500
Abstract: The invention relates to a system for assessing a pulmonary image which allows for an improved assessment with respect to lung nodules detectability. The pulmonary image is smoothed for providing different pulmonary images (20, 21, 22) with different degrees of smoothing, wherein signal values and noise values, which are indicative of the lung vessel detectability and the noise in these images, are determined and used for determining an image quality being indicative of the usability of the pulmonary image to be assessed for detecting lung nodules. Since a pulmonary image shows lung vessels with many different vessel sizes and with many different image values, which cover the respective ranges of potential lung nodules generally very well, the image quality determination based on the different pulmonary images with different degrees of smoothing allows for a reliable assessment of the pulmonary image's usability for detecting lung nodules.

  • Patent number: 11651497
Abstract: System and method for generating verisimilar images from real depth images. Train a generative adversarial neural network (GAN) by accessing test depth images having identical instances as instances of a real depth image. Input the test depth images in the generator to generate estimated depth images representing an implicit three-dimensional model of the object. Input, each estimated depth image into a discriminator to obtain a loss and into a pose encoder to obtain a matching loss. Iteratively repeat processes until the losses are minimized to a threshold, to end training. Identify the instances in the real image using the trained GAN pose encoder, to produce a pose transformation matrix for each instance in the real image. Identify pixels in the depth images corresponding to the instances of the real image and merge the pixels for the depth images to form an instance segmentation map for the real depth image.
