  • Patent number: 7654290
Abstract: A method for transporting the weft thread through the shed of an air-jet weaving machine having a nozzle fed with a flowing transportation medium, wherein the portion, changeable along the weft thread, of the natural thread charges arranged irregularly on the weft thread is contactlessly registered by means of an electrode array, wherein the changing total charge is determined on the electrode array, wherein the periodic change in the total charge is evaluated for determining the axial velocity of the weft thread, and wherein the nozzle of the weaving machine is controlled as a function of the axial velocity of the weft.

  • Patent number: 7654289
Abstract: A double layer forming fabric for a papermaking machine is warp-tied, all the warp yarns comprising binder pairs which forming a single combined path in the paper side surface. The pair members exchange positions at an exchange point between successive path segments and are laterally displaced in relation to each other at and between each exchange point. For each successive pair, an order of insertion of the first and second members in relation to each other into the weave is inverted in relation to the order of insertion for members of the immediately preceding pair, such that each first member is adjacent to the first member of the adjacent pair at the closest exchange point, and each second member is adjacent to the second member of the adjacent pair at the closest exchange point. The fabric has improved drainage uniformity leading to improved paper formation and reduced sheet marking.

  • Patent number: 7650913
Abstract: A weaving machine starts-up in slow speed operation during a first weaving cycle following the machine start. To help avoid weft breaks, a method is provided to hold a weft thread inserted into the loom shed during the first weaving cycle. A sensor monitors the weft insertion. The inserted weft thread is held by binding threads at a location downstream from an inlet side of the loom shed, before the weft thread is bound by the warp threads. The binding of the weft thread by the binding threads is carried out dependent on a signal of the sensor.

  • Patent number: 7644737
Abstract: A velvet ribbon with double-sided nap is produced by weaving three superimposed webs (8, 10, 12) connected to each other by nap threads (14). The nap threads (14) of the above triple web are separated between the middle web (8) and a first web (10) in a first cutting device (36, 36a). In a second cutting device (46, 46a) the nap threads between the middle web (8) and the second web (12) are separated to give the middle web as a double-sided velvet ribbon (8). The corresponding ribbon weaving machine (2) comprises three superimposed weaving points (31) each with a weft introduction body and a common shedding device (16). A first cutting device (36) for cutting the nap threads (14a) between the middle web (8) and a first web (12) and a second cutting device (46) for cutting the nap threads (14b) between the middle web (8) and the second web (10) are provided afterwards. The velvet ribbon (8) produced thus has a nap (56, 58) on both sides.

  • Patent number: 7637290
Abstract: A control device (53) for a clutch assembly (11) of a dobby comprises a selecting finger (28) that is driven by an electromagnet (37). The selecting finger is rigidly connected to an armature (47) that has a curved armature section and a straight armature section. Together with an appropriately curved pole (45) of the magnetic circuit, the curved armature section forms an air gap (48) that is preferably not influenced by the pivot position of the selecting finger. The other pole (46) of the electromagnet (37) forms a preferably straight air gap (49), said air gap being variable and having a size that is a function of the pivot position of the selecting finger. Due to the existing lever ratios, the maximum width of the trapezoidal gap is substantially smaller than the path of the outer end of the selecting finger (28) between its two selection positions. The distance (A) between the pivot center (32) and the variable air gap (49) is substantially smaller than the length of the selecting finger (28).

  • Patent number: 7636948
Abstract: A protective body armor system for protection against ballistic threats has an armored element such as a vest with front and rear ballistic armor. A long-sleeved shirt is worn beneath the ballistic armor which has a wicking, lightweight, low thermal insulation torso element. Two long sleeves are connected to and extend from the torso element. The torso element is substantially overlain by portions of the armor element, while portions of the sleeve extend beyond the armored element. The shirt has a durable collar connected to the torso element and to the two sleeves. The collar extends upwardly from the armored element. The collar is less resilient than the torso element, and serves to connect the two sleeves and to restrain the garment from undesired distortion.

  • Patent number: 7631669
Abstract: A papermaking fabric having a top layer and a bottom layer of interwoven machine direction (MD) yarns and cross-machine direction (CD) yarns bound together with warp binder yarns. At least some of the CD yarns are made of a material which generates a strong contractive force when returned to room temperature after heat-setting (annealing under MD tension). These CD yarns are positioned such that the strong contractive force offsets tension forces generated when the fabric is placed under load and which typically result in an edge curl. An exemplary material for these CD yarns is polybutylene terephthalate (PBT).

  • Patent number: 7624767
Abstract: A dryer fabric and a seam area of a dryer fabric. The basic structure of the dryer fabric having at least two superposed machine direction yarn systems. Some yarns of a paper side machine direction yarn system form seam loops at connecting ends and some of the paper side machine direction yarns form an edge of the seam area. All the machine direction yarns of the paper side system make a backward turn at the connecting end and they are fastened off on the backside. The paper side machine direction yarns are cut at a cutting point. Cutting points form a fasten-off row. Yarns that form seam loops are fastened off in a first fasten-off row and yarns that form an edge of the seam area are fastened off in one or more second fasten-off row. One fasten-off row is situated at the beginning line of the seam area.

  • Patent number: 7624764
Abstract: Heald support bar for heald shafts consists of a bent sheet metal element with unbent legs (8, 9), whereby, in the bending zones, the material thickness is reduced before or during the bending process. As a result of the compression occurring during the bending process, the material thickness in the bending region may again increase slighting during the bending process and, optionally, even return to its original value. However, in any event, an increase of the material thickness beyond the original sheet metal thickness is avoided during the bending process.
