  • Patent number: 12228004
Abstract: A wellhead assembly with an external test port for testing a primary seal at an interface of a wellhead and a base. The assembly includes unique architecture with a secondary seal provided adjacent the primary. In this manner, testing of the primary seal from an external location may proceed without concern over a false indication of primary seal failure. That is, for circumstances where a more interior side of the seal fails under pressure testing even though an outer face of the seal might remain in sealing engagement, the secondary seal would ensure that the outer sealing engagement is detected. As a result, a practical manner of testing the wellhead seal from an external location without the need of plugging the wellbore is provided.

  • Patent number: 12221854
Abstract: A wellbore chemical injection assembly includes an extension flange including two ends joined by a flange wall defining an inlet. The first end can fluidically couple to a tubing spool inlet of a wellhead installed at a wellbore surface. The second end can fluidically couple to a fluidic outlet of the wellhead. An extension member is attached to the flange wall at the inlet at a non-zero angle. An axial length of the extension member defines a through opening of increasing inner diameter from the inlet towards an end of the extension member. The end can be fluidically coupled to a chemical reservoir from which chemical is injected through the extension member and the extension flange into the tubing spool. Multiple valves are seated in the through opening of the extension member. The multiple valves are sized differently to seal the through opening of increasing diameter.

  • Patent number: 12196049
Abstract: The invention relates to the drilling of wells in rock and hydrocarbon formations. Drilling is performed with a drill string having a bottom hole assembly (BHA) and drill bit. Drilling mud is circulated during drilling. A valved inlet port is provided in the BHA which, in the event of a pack-off, opens and allows drilling mud to enter an internal space in the BHA to relieve pressure. An outlet port at the proximal end of the BHA may be provided to allow the mud to flow back into the annulus around the drill string. In this way, rapid build-up of pressure is avoided and the driller has more time to respond to the pack-off.
