Abstract: A power plant a for an aircraft having a hybrid-electric propulsion system including a nacelle body including therein an electric motor directly connected to a gearbox for driving a propeller, wherein the gearbox is connected directly to a heat motor for driving the propeller, and at least one heat exchanger for cooling the electric motor or the heat motor.
Abstract: The present invention provides a stackable drone and a drone swarm comprising at least two stackable drones. Each drone comprising: a fuselage comprising a first end and a second end; a mating structure arranged in the fuselage and configured to have an opening at the first end of the fuselage, the mating structure forming a mating recess on a first side of the fuselage, the mating recess having an opening at the first side of the fuselage for receiving a mating projection from a further stacking unmanned aerial vehicle. The stackable drones do not require a large area of ground for take-off and landing, require only a small space for storage and transportation. When landing, based on the conical or pyramidal structure, the drone may slide down by gravitational force into the mating recess of another drone thereunder without needs of high precision positioning or alignment system.
Abstract: A method includes providing thrust to an aircraft through a power train from a heat engine connected to the power train. The method includes controlling an electric motor connected to the power train to counter torque ripple in the power train from the heat engine. A system includes a power train for providing thrust to an aircraft. A heat engine is connected to the power train. An electric motor is operatively connected to the power train. A controller is operatively connected to control the electric motor. The controller includes machine readable instructions configured to cause the controller to control the electric motor to counter torque ripple in the power train from the heat engine.
Abstract: Devices and methods for attaching objects to living trees. Various forms of the devices employ a cable that is sized to be wrapped around a circumference of a portion of the living tree and engaged by at least one friction generating member to retain the cable attached to the portion of the living tree without human intervention until another circumference of the portion of the living tree exceeds a length of the cable to enable the cable to automatically disengage the portion of the living tree without the human intervention.
