  • Patent number: 7218498
Abstract: A touch switch apparatus for detecting the presence of an object such as a human appendage, the apparatus having a touch pad, an electric field generated about the touch pad and also having a preferably integrated and local control circuit connected to the touch pad and to a controlled device. The touch switch apparatus also having at least one of an input circuit portion for providing input signals to a decision circuit, swamping capacitance, active blocking devices, peak detector circuits, and a dual connection output latch circuit portion.

  • Patent number: 6040678
Abstract: A switched reluctance motor having a rotor and a stator is provided the motor includes means for adjusting a relative angle between a switch turn-off angle at which a switch for supplying power to a coil is turned off, and a tooth overlap angle at which a tooth portion of the rotor and a tooth portion S of the stator are overlapped according to a predetermined calculation. The switched reluctance motor has reduced vibration and noise levels, thereby increasing their application.

  • Patent number: 5818192
Abstract: A system for starting synchronous motor from a pulse-width-modulated static inverter without using rotor position or speed measurements. The system monitors supply current to the stator and derives a relationship between that current and the magnetizing flux. The system utilizes a narrowband filter that is tuned to pass only the motor currents fundamental component and whose tuned frequency changes with variations in motor speed. Furthermore, the system reduces the excitation provided to the motor after a certain value of line voltage is sensed.
