Abstract: In an embodiment, a data processing method comprises receiving, by a mobile app, incentive data comprising one or more app event types, wherein each app event type is associated with an incentive frequency value and a reward type; detecting an occurrence of an app event of the mobile app, wherein the app event is associated with a particular app event type of the one or more app event types; determining, based on the incentive frequency value for the particular app event type, whether to generate a scaffolding event comprising displaying an advertisement and providing a reward of the reward type associated with the particular app event type; displaying the advertisement and providing the reward; wherein the method is performed by one or more computing devices.
Abstract: A method of accessing services from a mobile communication device. The method comprises presenting service visual representations on a display of the device, wherein each of the service visual representations provides an interface for invoking a service, selecting advertisements for media content from a media content repository, wherein the selecting is based at least in part on the device, presenting the selected advertisements as thumbnail images on the display of the device, wherein each thumbnail image is coupled to metadata that define methods for invoking at least some of the services associated with the service visual representations, and when a first thumbnail image associated with a first selected advertisement is selected and dragged to the position of a first service visual representation, invoking a first service associated with the first service visual representation based on a method defined by metadata coupled to the first thumbnail image.

Abstract: Technology for selecting promotion(s) to display in a page of an application for display to a user is described. An example method includes determining a promotion for a product; calculating for the promotion a posterior distribution of a user-action probability reflecting estimates for a user response to a display of the promotion for the product on a computing device of the user; determining the posterior distribution as collapsing beyond a certain threshold; responsive thereto, calculating an uncollapsed posterior distribution of the user-action probability reflecting modified estimates for the user response to the display of the promotion for the product on a computing device of the user; storing the uncollapsed posterior distribution of the user-action probability in a response database; and determining whether to select the promotion from the promotion database for display on a computing device of the user based on the modified estimates.
Abstract: A method for web browser-based distribution of targeted advertising messages is provided. An advertising party registers with a distributor of targeted advertising messages. An advertising campaign for goods targeting user demographic categories chosen by the advertising party is created, with advertising messages being customized for each category and the advertising messages being stored on a web server of the distributor. The advertising party pays the distributor for the advertising campaign. A user registers with the distributor for receiving advertising messages through a web browser and the user providing user demographic data and value account information at registration. The web browser home page of the user is configured with a user-specific URL corresponding to a set of targeted advertising messages according to the user demographic data.
Abstract: A system and computer implemented method for acting on search results in a webpage. The invention displays selectable items in the form of search results determined by a web search engine in response to a search query received from a user. A first type of selection of one of the search results by the user causes a link to an online resource associated with the selected search result to be followed. A second type of selection by the user causes at least one control option to be displayed to the user, the control options including at least one of: saving details of the search result to a remote storage location, or accessing the details of at least one previously saved search results.

Abstract: A visual discovery tool for automotive manufacturing with network encryption, data conditioning, and prediction can include an extraction device configured to receive data records from application-specific file source databases. The tool can further include a vehicle alert database that receives the vehicle records from the plurality of extraction databases. The visual discovery tool can include at least one hardware processor in communication with the extraction device and the vehicle alert database. The tool can be configured to selectively restrict access to an interactive display based on whether a client device receives authorization credentials.

Abstract: A system and method allows a user to define books of pictures and customizable text, and HTML code is generated from such definition to allow the books to be displayed on a browser. Based on the user's book definitions or viewers activities, the individual's interests, moods and/or emotions may be identified and ads may be identified and displayed to such person that correspond to such interests, moods or emotions.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a system and method for interacting with a social network. The method includes displaying a web page provided by a content provider on a user device. The web page includes at least one social network access item. The social network access item may be selected by a user of the user device, with a first type of selection causing a link to an online resource associated with a social network provider to be followed by the web browser, the online resource enabling the user to login to a social network. Receiving a second type of selection causes at least one control option to be displayed within the web page. The control option may be for saving details of the web page to a storage location remote from the user device and provided by the social network provider, or accessing the details of at least one web page previously saved by the user from the storage location.

Abstract: A device exchanges a message with an Internet site in order to provide a reward to a consumer. A user device posts a message to the Internet site, and an authentication server verifies the message and sends notification to the consumer of the reward. The message contains a key string (such as a hashtag), and a geographic location corresponding to a predefined geographic region that is known to the authentication server. The authentication server, which stores a mapping between the predefined geographic region and the key string, verifies the message by determining that the geographic location where the image data was captured is within the predefined geographic region. Having verified the message, the authentication server sends a reward notification to the user device.
