  • Patent number: 10813009
Abstract: A light-weight solution for media handovers between different Radio Access Technologies (RAT) is provided. A user may switch from Wi-Fi to Cellular Data (e.g., LTE/4G/3G/ . . . ), from Cellular data to Wi-Fi, and the like. In contrast to a “make-before-break” design for switching between RATs, the technologies described herein are a “break-before-make” design. When a change in a RAT is detected, an application on the computing device utilizing the connection is notified of the change. Instead of removing connection information, the connection is maintained for a configurable period of time such that the application can re-register with the network to continue the communication session. During a transition to a second RAT, the application provides one or more notifications to the user of the change in RAT. For instance, a graphical user interface (GUI) can be displayed showing the change and/or a tone can be played indicating the change in the RAT.

  • Patent number: 10813092
Abstract: A wireless device may receive one or more messages comprising configuration parameters of a licensed assisted access (LAA) cell. The wireless device may receive downlink control information (DCI) for the LAA cell. The DCI may comprise a first field and a second field. The first field may indicate uplink resources for an uplink subframe of the LAA cell. The second field may indicate a first starting position in a plurality of starting positions in the uplink subframe. The first starting position in the uplink subframe may be determined, at least, based on a sum of a listen-before-talk (LBT) period and a timing advance value. The wireless device may generate one or more transport blocks employing the DCI. The wireless device may transmit the one or more transport blocks in the uplink resources starting from the starting position of the uplink subframe.

  • Patent number: 10790955
Abstract: Techniques and examples of reservation of hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) acknowledgment (HARQ-ACK) resources in UCI in wireless communications are described. Accordingly, a UE determines how a HARQ-ACK is to be transmitted to a network node of a wireless network. The UE reserves HARQ-ACK resources among a plurality of resource elements (REs) for a two-bit HARQ-ACK based on a result of the determining. The UE then transmits the HARQ-ACK, having zero bit, one bit or two bits, to the network node in a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) using the reserved HARQ-ACK resources such that the PUSCH is punctured for the HARQ-ACK.

  • Patent number: 10772145
Abstract: A user equipment (UE) may experience poor communication with a network access device, and the network access device may configure the UE to connect to, and route communications through, one or more relay nodes (e.g., which may be another UE, a network operator-deployed relay, etc.). Techniques are described whereby these relay nodes may autonomously form a wireless backhaul network. Sequential implementations are considered such that the size of the wireless backhaul network may scale efficiently. In some examples, the wireless backhaul network may form by reusing existing connectivity establishment procedures. Importantly, the proposed techniques enable a relay to possess (e.g., be configured with) functionality that may traditionally be associated with a UE, base station, and gateway. Such multi-faceted functionality may enable the described sequential formation of wireless backhaul networks with tree topology.
