  • Patent number: 10373098
Abstract: The principles of the present invention provide the ability to flexibly change the delivery point and time for a mail item, while the item is en route. The recipient, sender, or mailer may flexibly change the delivery point of the item alone or in combination with each other. While an item is en route between the sending point and the delivery point, a notification is sent to indicate that the item is in transit. In response, the delivery of the item may be changed. For example, the destination specified by the sender (e.g., the delivery address written on the item) may be changed or a delivery time may be specified. The item is then delivered to the new delivery point and/or at the specified delivery time.

  • Patent number: 10108618
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention(s) described herein enable a system that may rely on a biometric identifier entry validation system The validation system uses biometric methods such as facial recognition, palm veins, and thumb prints as an entry or passage token. The validation system associates a form of fare media such as a smartcard or other electronic payment method with the biometric identifier after repeated transactions where both the fare media and the biometric identifier are read. In this manner the biometric identifier becomes a biometric token that replaces the need to use a form of fare media. Accordingly, the biometric identifier user can be validated for passage without the need to carry a form of fare media and, in some cases, in different geographic locations.

  • Patent number: 9697480
Abstract: A computer-implemented method of analyzing a workflow is provided. The method can include generating a multi-stage workflow representation corresponding to a physical process, the representation defining for each stage of the workflow at least one activity performed during the process. The method also can include associating at least one activity-based cost with each activity performed during the process, and estimating a distribution of costs over the stages of the workflow based on cost data generated by repeated execution of the process. The method can further include determining, based upon the estimated distribution of costs, whether a cost imbalance is associated with at least one stage of the workflow.

  • Patent number: 8612284
Abstract: A system, method and computer program product for managing the quality of service differentiated cloud storage. The cloud storage (and its services) is highly distributed. An overall speed of the storage is calculated based on storage speed and a traffic speed of the connection to the particular cloud storage. Data access expenses are calculated. Then, for each of the portions of the cloud storage the associated speed and traffic costs are calculated, so the user can select a level of data access guarantee (DAG) for his particular needs. In order to maintain the desired overall speed of the data access, geo-targeting with the cloud storage system is implemented, where the same data is retrieved from different locations based on optimal data movement costs.
