Abstract: Methods for reducing nitrate nitrogen and oxalic acid contents in plants, each of which comprises applying 5-aminolevulinic acid, a salt thereof or a mixture thereof. Nitrate nitrogen and oxalic acid contents in plants having high nitrate nitrogen and oxalic acid contents can be reduced effectively and easily.

Abstract: A fungicidal, herbicidal or plant growth regulating composition for application to an aquatic environment, the composition comprising a solid carrier, a fungicidal, herbicidal or plant growth regulating active ingredient, and an oil with which the said active ingredient is miscible or in which it is capable of being dispersed, said oil being water-immiscible, having a specific gravity of less than 1 and a boiling point at atmospheric pressure of greater than 150.degree. Abstract: An antagonism caused by the use of a herbicide for narrowleaf weeds together with a herbicide for broadleaf weeds is inhibited by using together with hydrophilic polymeric compound containing a quaternary ammonium salt and having 10,000 to 1,000,000 of molcular weight.
Abstract: The present invention provides an improved method for growing a plant sprayed with hard water while inhibiting the formation of crystalline mineral deposits on the plant. According to the present invention, an effective amount of 1-hydroxyethane 1, 1-diphosphonic acid (HEDPA) is admixed with water and sprayed on the plant resulting in the formation of an amorphous powder on the plant. According to another aspect of the present invention, the method further includes providing mechanical agitation to prevent a buildup of amorphous powder on the plant.
Abstract: Herbicidal compositions are provided which contain combinations of glyphosate [N-(phosphonomethyl)glycine] and sulfuric acid, and/or combinations of glyphosate, sulfuric acid and a chalcogen-containing compound of the formula R.sub.1 --CX--R.sub.2 wherein X is a chalcogen compound of the formula R.sub.1 --CX--R.sub.2 wherein X is selected from oxygen and sulfur, R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are independently selected from hydrogen, monovalent organic radicals, NR.sub.3 R.sub.4 and NR.sub.5, at least one of R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 being NR.sub.3 R.sub.4 or NR.sub.5, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are independently selected from hydrogen and monovalent organic radicals, and R.sub.5 is a divalent organic radical. Such compositions contain reaction products of glyphosate and sulfuric acid, and/or of glyphosate, sulfuric acid and the chalcogen compound, and they may also contain excess glyphosate or sulfuric acid.

Abstract: A solvent mixture for use in vapor cleaning degreasing systems. Dibromomethane is used as the principal component instead of such high ozone depleting chlorofluorocarbons as Freon and 1,1,1 Trichloroethane. Dibromomethane is mixed with other solvents including a number of low boiling solvents which prevent the mixture from becoming acidic on the release of bromine into the atmosphere.

Abstract: The present invention provides an improved method and mixture for cooling fruit on the tree or vine while inhibiting the formation of scales or deposits on the fruit. The method and mixture provide admixing an effective amount of 1-hydroxyethane 1,1-diphosphonic acid (HEDPA) with cooling water before the cooling water is sprayed onto the fruit with cooling water.
Abstract: The activity of antimicrobial compounds selected from isothiazolones and compounds which release formaldehyde is enhanced with a metal complex of a lower alkanolamine, particularly copper (cupric) triethanolamine. The enhancement is particularly useful in metalworking fluids.

Abstract: Fungicidal compositions for the protection of turfgrass against crown and root rot are disclosed. The compositions comprise, as the active material, a mixture of (a) a monoester salt of a phosphorous acid (preferably aluminum ethyl phosphite), and (b) an ethylene bisdithiocarbamate contact fungicide (preferably manganese-zinc ethylene bisdithiocarbamate). Preferred compositions comprise one part by weight of the monosester salt to two parts by weight of the ethylene bisdithiocarbamate.
Abstract: An insecticide carrier and insecticide comprising a mixture of petrolatum and diatomaceous earth. A diluent, such as crop oil, may be added to the mixture, particularly for use as a spray insecticide. Any of a variety of insecticides containing active ingredients may also be added. The resulting formulation provides a longer life product, as well as ultraviolet shielding, good adhesion to insects and vegetation, and increased insect penetration.

Abstract: A herbicidal composition which comprises a herbicidally effective amount of the combinations of (a) 2-[7-fluoro-3,4-dihydro-3-oxo-4-(2-propynyl)-2H-1,4-benzoxazin-6-yl]-4,5,6 ,7-tetrahydro-1H-isoindole-1,3(2H)-dione and (b) at least one of (2-amino-4-methylphosphinobutyryl)alanylalanine and its salt (bialaphos) and DL-homoalanin-4-yl(methyl)phosphinic acid and its salt (glufosinate), and an inert carrier or diluent. The composition exerts synergistic herbicidal activity.
