  • Patent number: 6691810
Abstract: An upper limit amount of discharged electric energy calculator calculates an upper limit amount of discharged electric energy (Pcap_LMT), which represents a discharged electric energy of a capacitor when the amount of electric energy discharged by a fuel cell stack is equal to an upper limit amount of electric energy (Ifc_LMT) generated by the fuel cell stack. An output limit electric energy calculator calculates an output limit electric energy (PLD), which represents an upper limit amount of the electric energy that can be outputted to a motor. A torque command determining unit determines a torque command (TRQ_CMD) such that the electric energy consumed by the motor and a motor driver will not exceed the output limit electric energy (PLD).

  • Patent number: 6692010
Abstract: A safety sulky for a self-propelled mower. The safety sulky has a chamber adjacent a platform upon which a mowing operator stands. Two, spaced-apart pins that are biased downwardly by a spring can be made to rise above the chamber by two levers. The two, spaced-apart, spring-biased pins can project through the upper surface of the chamber by standing on the levers. The pins operatively engage with, and rise adjacent to, the elongated arm thus intersecting the swing path of the sulky about the connecting arm, limiting its arcuate movement.

  • Patent number: 6692011
Abstract: A mobile pedestal includes a wheeled cabinet unit with a cabinet made from sheet metal, and a cushioned upholstery-covered top subassembly attached to a top of the wheeled cabinet unit. The top subassembly includes a flat housing made of a wood product and that is shaped to substantially cover the cabinet. The housing defines a pair of edge-located elongated cavities. A U-shaped handle with elongated legs that extend into and slidably engage the cavities so that the handle is movable to an internal storage position in the cavities and to an extended angled use position. The legs have a turned-in end and the cavities are configured to engage the turned-in ends to retain the handle to the housing when the handle is in the extended use position, but further the legs are configured to permit the handle to rotate from a horizontal extended position to the angled use position when extended.

  • Patent number: 6688633
Abstract: An aid for use when transporting elderly people and disabled people, comprising a frame provided with handle bars, the frame comprising a front and a rear frame section, each essentially consisting of a pair of frame bars or frame tubes with transverse connections, the frame bars or frame tubes having their lower ends designed for movement across the ground and the frame sections being foldably connected about a transverse axis that is located under handle bar level. The frame sections are also foldable in the transverse direction, due to the transverse connections between the frame tubes of the frame sections being formed by connecting bars which are adapted to be folded in or substantially in the plane of the respective frame section. The aid is adapted to be used both as a walking aid (rollator) and as a passive wheel chair.

  • Patent number: 6688636
Abstract: A light-producing structure for a wheeled traveling case assembly includes a mini generator having a rotary shaft with a frictional wheel connected thereto to frictionally contact with an adjacent wheel of the assembly. When the wheel rotates, the frictional wheel and the rotary shaft are brought to rotate, enabling the mini generator to output currents, which are supplied to light-emitting elements provided on handle grip and traveling case of the assembly in order to give light. Each wheel of the assembly is internally provided with an induction coil and a plurality of small bulbs. A ring-shaped magnetic rotor is fixedly mounted on an axle of each wheel to locate in a central hole of the induction coil. When the wheel rotates, the induction coil rotates relative to the magnetic rotor to generate induced currents, which are supplied to the small bulbs in the wheel for the bulbs to give light.

  • Patent number: 6688418
Abstract: A drive system for a utility vehicle (10) containing a motor (12) that is connected to and drives a hydraulic pump (14) which, in turn, is connected to a hydraulic motor (16). The hydraulic motor drives a ground engaging element through a gearbox having different selectable gears. A speed-adjustment device (26, 122) cooperates with the hydraulic pump (14) and/or the hydraulic motor (16) to adjust the rotational speed of the hydraulic motor (16). In order to make available the full rotational speed range of the hydraulic motor (16) in the lower gears while ensuring the observation of the maximum permissible speed in the highest gear, the invention provides a control device to limit the rotational speed of the hydraulic motor (16) to a predetermined value if the highest gear(s) of the gearbox (18) is selected.

  • Patent number: 6688412
Abstract: A control device for in-wheel transmissions in an electric vehicle, each of which comprises a stepped transmission that transmits power from each motor to each vehicle wheel. The control device is arranged to alleviate gear-change shock without increasing the number of steps of the in-wheel transmissions. Gear-change of the in-wheel transmissions of the vehicle wheels is effected with a time difference between the vehicle wheels. The change of acceleration produced by the gear change thereby occurs in such a manner that the change of acceleration is dispersed in regard to time, so the gear-change shock is alleviated compared with the case where gear-change of the four wheels is performed simultaneously.

  • Patent number: 6688411
Abstract: A hybrid electric vehicle 10 and a method for operating the hybrid electric vehicle 10 in which combustion is made to occur within the internal combustion engine 24 only after the crankshaft 25 of the engine 24 has been rotated by an electric motor or generator 30 to a certain speed and according to a certain ramped or partially ramped profile 114, 112, thereby reducing the amount of emissions from the engine 24, allowing for a more efficient torque transfer to wheels 42, and allowing for a more smoother operation of the vehicle 10. The fuel injectors 13, throttle plate 11, and spark plugs 15 are also controlled in order to allow emissions to be reduced during activation of the engine and to allow the catalytic converter 7 to be heated in order to allow these emissions to be further reduced as the engine 24 is operating.

  • Patent number: 6685200
Abstract: A flat top carrier deck includes a base plate, and at least one elevating gate. The base plate is preferably fabricated from a perforated sheet of material. Each elevating gate engages the base plate. Each elevating gate is either disposed in a retracted position or an extended position. Preferably, a handle clearance impression is formed in a first end of the base plate and a lift clearance impression is formed in a second end thereof. The clearance impressions provide an outline for snapping out a clearance slot. However, handle and lift clearance slots may also be formed in the base plate during manufacture. The clearance slots allow the flat top carrier deck to be retained by a horizontal hand truck.
