  • Patent number: 8249071
Abstract: A system for management and control of audio related equipment. The system provides an architecture to manage, monitor, and control all of the audio related equipment in an audio system. A communication protocol used within the system allows standardized communication between the performance equipment mangers and the audio related devices, as well as device-to-device communication. The protocol allows users to add audio related devices to an audio system without performing a setup to configure communication between the devices.

  • Patent number: 8238325
Abstract: Full-mesh WDM transmission units, each of which includes n number of interfaces and is capable of establishing a bidirectional full-mesh communication between all of the interfaces using wavelength paths based on a wavelength division multiplexing technique, are connected in a multistage tree-shaped structure by internetwork connection units through edge-packet transfer units connected to the respective interfaces. Therefore, it is possible to hold a direct communication between user terminals connected to the edge-packet transfer units of the same full-mesh WDM transmission unit, and to realize scalability by a multistage connection configuration.

  • Patent number: 8228992
Abstract: Methods and systems for power-aware motion estimation video processing are disclosed. Aspects of one method may include estimating motion for video data by block matching reduced resolution blocks of video data to generate an initial motion vector. The preliminary motion vector and motion for a previous frame may be used to generate a final motion vector for the block for the present frame using an iterative algorithm. The motion estimation may be dynamically enabled and/or disabled based on content of the video data, available power to a mobile terminal, and/or a user input. The iterations used to generate the final motion vector may be based on content of the video data, available power to a mobile terminal, and/or a user input.

  • Patent number: 8228796
Abstract: A method for reducing power consumption in an Ethernet switch is provided. The method includes: checking a state of packet data input through each of connection ports; detecting a connection port which has a packet rate lower than a predetermined reference value based on a result of the checking; and generating a data transfer control frame with respect to the connection port having the low packet rate and transmitting the generated data transfer control frame to an Ethernet apparatus connected to the corresponding connection port. Accordingly, a transmission line between the Ethernet switch and an Ethernet apparatus having the low to transmission rate is maintained in a low-power state, thereby reducing energy consumption in both Ethernet apparatuses.

  • Patent number: 8223642
Abstract: Differentiated services for network traffic using weighted quality of service is provided. Network traffic is queued into separate per flow queues, and traffic is scheduled from the per flow queues into a group queue. Congestion management is performed on traffic in the group queue. Traffic is marked with priority values, and congestion management is performed based on the priority values. For example, traffic can be marked as “in contract” if it is within a contractual limit, and marked as “out of contract” if it is not within the contractual limit. Marking can also include classifying incoming traffic based on Differentiated Service Code Point. Higher priority traffic can be scheduled from the per flow queues in a strict priority over lower priority traffic. The lower priority traffic can be scheduled in a round robin manner.

  • Patent number: 8223776
Abstract: A communication system includes a switching network and a wireless network. The switching network includes a first gateway for receiving a communication from a caller, a second gateway for establishing an external connection through which the communication can be routed, and a command center that allows the first and second gateways to make an internal connection. The wireless network includes a visited mobile switch center and a home location register. The visited mobile switch center generates routing information, receives the communication from the external connection of the switching network, and routes the communication to a wireless network subscriber. The home location register locates the visited mobile switch center, and passes the routing information from the visited mobile switch center to the command center of the switching network. The command center causes the external connection to be established based on the routing information.

  • Patent number: 8213429
Abstract: A virtual network has network interfaces coupled by a multipoint tunnel (100) through a forwarding network (40), each interface having a forwarding address in an address space of the forwarding network, each network interface having a reconfigurable address mapper (320) for determining a forwarding address for a packet, and encapsulating the packet with its forwarding address so that the forwarding network can forward the data packet transparent to its destination address. This makes the virtual network more agile since changes to the virtual network can be achieved by reconfiguring the corresponding forwarding addresses without needing to set up new tunnels new routing to these different tunnels. The forwarding network need not be aware of the virtual network and so no adaptation of the forwarding network or specialised hardware is needed.

  • Patent number: 8208412
Abstract: A solution for the Network Address Translation (NAT) traversal problem for Real Time Protocol (RTP) is provided, which uses an RTP Proxy (e.g., a Session Border Controller (SBC)), instead of being logically located between the NAT and the Feature Server (FS), but instead, for devices which use a protocol unsupported by the SBC, having these devices first signal the Feature Server, which determines whether and how an RTP proxy should be invoked. An RTP proxy should be invoked by the FS if Both endpoints (e.g., devices) are behind different NATs (or one of the endpoints is behind a NAT and the other is not) and neither of the endpoints are already signaled through an RTP proxy. For example, the SBC is interposed (at least logically) between the Feature Server and other shared components.

  • Patent number: 8203973
Abstract: A system and method of a multimedia Push-To-Talk (PTT) over Cellular (PoC) box service is provided which can reflect dynamic requests of a user using a function for interworking with a PoC server and an Extensible Markup Language (XML) Document Management Server (XDMS) in a PoC system. In a method for providing the PoC box service, the PoC XDMS stores various information about a type of media to be stored by a PoC user, a PoC box type, and a connection address after a service request expires. An associated service is implemented by Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) technology between the PoC server and a PoC client and by interworking with the PoC server and the XDMS.

  • Patent number: 8199763
Abstract: There is described a method for setting up a call over the Internet between a Web-based phone and a phone device. The Web-based phone is loaded on a Java-enabled computing device. The call involves a Web application hosted on an external server capable of communication with a SIP Server on which the Web-based phone is pre-registered. Upon request from the computing device, the external server sends an HTTP message to a SIP Switch which in turn forwards a SIP NOTIFY message to the computing device through the SIP Server. The Web-based phone then pops up on the computing device and the call initiation can be confirmed. There is also described a platform independent Web-based phone as well as a Web application for auto-populating a contact directory from contacts on a social networking Web site.

  • Patent number: 8194741
Abstract: Methods and systems for processing B pictures with missing or invalid forward reference pictures are disclosed. Aspects of one method may include decoding of a contiguous sequence of B pictures that immediately follow a first I picture after a sequence header. The decoding of the B pictures may handle video edit codes in the AVS1-P2 format and/or random access points. Some embodiments of the invention may discard B pictures that refer to invalid or missing forward reference pictures, while other embodiments of the invention may interpolate B pictures. For an invalid forward reference picture, the interpolation algorithm for generating pictures may use the invalid forward reference picture and the backward reference picture. For a missing decoded forward reference picture, as in a random access, the interpolation algorithm for generating pictures may use the backward reference picture.

  • Patent number: 8194566
Abstract: A first information-processing device at a communication source, is equipped with span of packet life setting part and bubble packet transmitter. The span of packet life setting part sets a span of packet life in a range where a bubble packet transmitted for leaving a transmission history in a NAT at the communication source so that a packet transmitted from the information-processing device at the communication destination, does not reach the information-processing device at the communication destination. Meanwhile, bubble packet transmitter transmits a bubble packet having the span of packet life set by span of packet life setting part through the NAT at the communication source. With such a configuration, the present invention provides an information-processing device that appropriately establishes communications through a NAT with high-level security.
