Patent number: 9211899Abstract: A four-wheel shopping cart includes a substantially rectangular base surrounded by vertical side, front and rear walls to form an open-topped, cargo basket. The front wall opens fully to provide access to the cargo area, while the rear wall is shorter than the others to allow easy access from behind while shopping. A transverse axle mounted below the rear wall supports hinged legs that fold upwards alongside the side walls so the cart can be placed conveniently into a vehicle for transportation. The legs unfold and lock to support the cart on castors for shopping, and may include height adjustment means for lowering the basket to a comfortable level for usage and for raising it to place it into the shopper's vehicle. A pair of small, adjustable wheels mounted on opposite front corners of the base pivot partially to facilitate maneuvering the cart within the vehicle.Type: GrantFiled: June 21, 2012Date of Patent: December 15, 2015Inventors: Brenda Jo Beauchamp, Kenneth Roy Hill

Patent number: 9180359Abstract: A rotatable snowboard binding system allows the front binding to rotate from the riding mode to the skating mode freely, so that a rider can skate and rotate back to the riding mode. When in the skating mode, a fin member protrudes beneath the bottom of the snowboard. This acts on the snow to maintain the rider's direction of travel. The system allows both goofy foot and regular foot riders to safely and easily negotiate lifts and lift lines, and traverse flats by allowing the front binding to rotate between 0° (riding) and 90° (skating) positions. While in the riding mode, bindings and board will function as normal. When the system is utilized in the skating mode, the front binding rotates, allowing the rider to operate the snowboard much like a skateboard. In this rotated position, the fin member protrudes from the bottom of the board.Type: GrantFiled: January 13, 2015Date of Patent: November 10, 2015Inventor: Donough H. Deutsch

Patent number: 9180858Abstract: A hybrid drive device in which an input shaft is connected to an engine, an output shaft is connected to wheels, and a wheel drive motor is connected between the input shaft and the output shaft. In the hybrid device, a friction engagement element that is provided between the input shaft and the output shaft and of which transfer torque is controllable. A control device controls the friction engagement element. The control device reduces the transfer torque of the friction engagement element during engine starting in a predetermined low temperature environment or during travel on a bad road, compared to the transfer torque of the friction engagement element in an engaged state.Type: GrantFiled: January 24, 2013Date of Patent: November 10, 2015Assignees: AISIN AW CO., LTD., AISIN SEIKI KABUSHIKI KAISHAInventors: Hidetoshi Aoki, Takafumi Koshida, Yoshitomi Haneda, Tokiyoshi Kida, Hiroshi Imai

Patent number: 9158868Abstract: A powertrain mounting system for a vehicle powertrain includes a first powertrain mount that exhibits a first gradual rate of change of static stiffness when under load. The mounting system also includes a second powertrain mount that exhibits a second gradual rate of change of static stiffness when under load. The first gradual rate of change of static stiffness is related to the second gradual rate of change of static stiffness by a static equilibrium torque balance equation of respective displacements at the first and the second powertrain mounts. The static equilibrium torque balance equation is based in part on a spatial arrangement of the first and the second powertrain mounts relative to the powertrain. A method of designing the powertrain mounting system determines the first and second gradual rates of change of static stiffness under load to achieve efficient energy management.Type: GrantFiled: December 5, 2013Date of Patent: October 13, 2015Assignee: GM Global Technology Operations LLCInventors: Sam M. Patent number: 9156321Abstract: A system is disclosed comprising a tractor vehicle, at least one trailer vehicle and a skin between and in contact with the tractor and trailer vehicles. One of the tractor and trailer vehicles is disposed in a non-inverted position above the skin and the other is disposed in an inverted position below the skin. The trailer vehicle comprises one or more magnets, while the tractor vehicle comprises one or more magnets magnetically coupled to each opposing magnet on the trailer vehicle. For example, the tractor and trailer vehicles may have mutually opposing permanent magnets in one-to-one relationship. Alternatively, each permanent magnet on the trailer vehicle could be opposed by one or more electro-permanent magnets on the tractor vehicle. The magnetic coupling between the magnets on the tractor and trailer vehicles produces an attraction force.Type: GrantFiled: January 28, 2014Date of Patent: October 13, 2015Assignee: The Boeing CompanyInventors: James J. Patent number: 9156485Abstract: A leverage cart assembly is used to lift and move a load. The leverage cart assembly has a load plate that is coupled to a support framework. The load to be lifted is placed on the lift plate and is strapped to the support framework. A hand truck assemblage is provided that is used to raise and lower the load plate, the support framework, and the attached load. The hand truck assemblage includes a cart framework that is supported on wheels. At least one lift plate extends from the cart framework and engages the load plate with a hinged connection. As the hand truck assemblage is tilted, the lift arm inclines. This elevates the load plate and the load. However, due to the hinge connection, the orientation of the load plate relative the load remains constant as the load plate and load are lifted.Type: GrantFiled: July 2, 2013Date of Patent: October 13, 2015Inventor: Sandy I.
