  • Patent number: 11064150
Abstract: An approach for providing a user interface having a resolution corresponding to a resolution of a high resolution content is provided. The approach allocates at least one partial frame buffer based on a size and a location of a region on a screen of a display on which a user interface (UI) is displayed. The approach displays the UI based on at least one piece of partial graphic data obtained from the allocated at least one partial frame buffer.

  • Patent number: 10929623
Abstract: Near and far imagers image close-in and far-out targets over relatively wider and relatively narrower imaging fields of view, respectively. An aiming assembly directs to a target a visible aiming light pattern having an aiming light spot and a pair of collinear aiming light lines. The aiming light spot is substantially centered between the aiming light lines. A controller determines a distance to the target based on a position of the aiming light spot in the imaging field of view of a default one of the imagers, selects at least one of the imagers based on the determined distance, and enables both the close-in and the far-out targets to be positioned substantially entirely within the respective imaging field of view of the selected imager.

  • Patent number: 10750214
Abstract: A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, wirelessly receiving adjustment information from a mobile communication device, wirelessly receiving a request for video content from the mobile communication device, generating multiple versions of the video content, wirelessly transmitting a second version to the mobile communication device for presentation on the display device according to the adjustment of the access plan, and transmitting a first version to the mobile communication device for presentation on the display device and ceasing transmitting the second version responsive to a determination of an undesired condition associated with the presentation of the second version on the display device. Other embodiments are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 10171870
Abstract: Described herein are systems and methods for providing hardware based security to software applications in a television receiver. The system can include a television receiver having a trusted hardware environment that includes a security processor and a standard environment that includes an application processor. The security processor can ensure that at least a portion of the software application executed by the application processor is secure. A portion of the software application code can be placed in an interrupt service routine memory space. During execution of the software application, the security processor can security check the portion of the software application in the interrupt service routine memory space, making it trusted code. The security processor can force the application processor to execute the trusted code by triggering an interrupt. Such forced execution can allow the security processor to not only ensure that code is trusted, but that it is executed.

  • Patent number: 10149018
Abstract: A remote node system with an amplitude modulation (AM) star architecture is formed between a remote node and a plurality of field nodes split from the remote CCAP node. In embodiments, an R-CCAP node can be combined with amplitude modulation (AM) optics in a star architecture for building low power nodes, supporting set top box (STB) out of band (OOB) signals, and increasing system bandwidth (BW). The remote node can be implemented in media content delivery networks, such as a hybrid fiber-coax HFC network or evolving radio frequency over glass (RFoG) networks.

  • Patent number: 9386348
Abstract: A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a set-top box having a controller to present media content at a presentation device as directed by a user, monitor the media content consumed by the user, detect a first behavioral pattern based on the media content consumed by the user, transmit the detected first behavioral pattern to a communication device of the user, receive from the communication device a second behavioral pattern, and identify media content correlating to the second behavioral pattern. The communication device can be adapted to adjust communication operations according to the detected first behavioral pattern. Other embodiments are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8990846
Abstract: The invention discloses a method for controlling digital film play-count and a system thereof, wherein a play-count parameter is added into a KDM file where a key delivery message used for controlling film play is embedded, detecting the play-count parameter for a playing film, setting RSA key abstracts of an FDM packager of all authorized contracting film producers, safely importing the KDM and play-count into a security module, detecting the play-count parameter for a playing film. The film is not permitted to play unless existing play-count is less than the authorized play-count in the FDM. The invention fulfills the requirements and demands for controlling the distribution and playback of digital films in the second-tier market using technologies such as the authorized play-count and a method to charge on the basis of play-count.

  • Patent number: 7788687
Abstract: A method and mechanism for selecting and conveying ads in an interactive television system. An ad stream is conveyed concurrently with a broadcast programming stream in an interactive television system. The ad stream includes multiple streams of ads wherein each stream of ads includes multiple ads. An ad selector mechanism detects programming and ad requests. Requests may be indicated by a viewer, a received cue, or by an interactive application. Based on programming and ad selection data, a viewer profile is created which may be used to select targeted ads for display. In response to a detected request, the ad selector mechanism searches the ad stream for an ad to meet the request. An ad is selected according to a viewer profile or a particular viewer action. The selected ad may be used to meet the request by filling an unused avail or by providing further information to a viewer. A particular ad may appear in more than one of the multiple streams and at different start times.
