Abstract: A shutter for a single lens reflex camera, comprises a drive gear rotatable in opposite directions by a motor and having a non-tooth portion, a control gear directly or indirectly engageable with the drive gear, shutter blades driven by the control gear to open and close a shutter opening, and a spring for constantly biasing the control gear in a direction to close the shutter opening. Upon rotation of the drive gear, the control gear is rotated to face the non-tooth portion of the drive gear whereby the shutter blades are moved under the action of the spring to close the shutter opening. When the control gear is brought into meshing engagement with the drive gear, the shutter blades are rendered operative to open and close the shutter opening.
Abstract: This invention relates to a loudspeaker having a plurality of sound collecting tubes attached to the rear of the speaker frame or the sound collecting tubes forming the speaker frame for collecting and directing sound waves emitted toward the rear of the speaker diaphragm. The sound collecting tubes are particularly useful for directing and boosting sound waves emitted from the rear of the speaker which is otherwise dissipated or absorbed by the loudspeaker housing material or insulation. In addition, conventional or specialized sound horns may be readily attached to the outlet end of the sound collecting tubes which can direct sound waves emitted by the speaker to any desired direction.
Abstract: A tray for supporting an underwater camera incorporates a quickly detachable and attachable light strobe on one side of the camera and allows for the alternative attachability of a second strobe or a mast-mounted lightmeter opposite the quickly detachable strobe; and subsequently, provides plural hand grips for maneuverability of the camera and the subject, accessibility and maneuverability of complementary equipment, and stability and equilibrium of the camera to prevent off-center photographs. A bar or post protrudes perpendicularly upward from the tray parallel to a side of the camera. A non-rotatable seat for a strobe arm attachment incorporates a slot ground crosswise in the platform adjacent the protruding post. The post is secured to the tray in the center of the slot.

Abstract: Disclosed is a sanitary acoustic horn for use in the dairy industry for preventing powder build-up in dairy industry drying systems and for meeting U.S.D.A. requirements for equipment which comes in contact with powder product. The sanitary acoustic horn includes a driver and a bell connected to one another by means of sanitary ferrules and quick connect hinged clamps. The sanitary acoustic horn is preferably made from 304 stainless steel and having at least a number 4 finish on all surfaces which will be exposed to powder product. A number 4 finish inhibits the collection of powder on such surfaces by eliminating pits, scratches, grooves and the like therefrom. The quick connect clamp allows for easy assembly and disassembly of the horn for a manual cleaning. The sanitary horn further includes an air delivery chamber which extends about the driver. Such air delivery chamber has sufficient dimension to allow insertion of human fingers and cloths so that such surfaces may be easily cleaned.
Abstract: A noise reducer for an engine induction system comprises an outer duct having an inlet and outlet, and an inner duct having an inlet and outlet. The inner duct has a contained portion including the inner duct outlet and a portion of the inner duct adjacent to the inner duct outlet. The contained portion is contained in the outer duct with the inner duct outlet being adjacent the outer duct outlet. The noise reducer further comprises a closure extending away from the inner duct into engagement with the outer duct. The closure is spaced apart from the inner duct outlet along the axis of the inner duct. A resonance chamber is defined by the space between the contained portion, closure and outer duct. A chamber port is defined by the space between the inner duct outlet and the outer duct.

Abstract: An acoustic stringed musical instrument is provided having a neck which extends inwardly at least to the bridge, acoustically communicating with the top near the bridge. Means are provided to anchor the strings at the lower end of the neck as well as its upper end such that the compressive forces created by the tightened strings are carried substantially completely by the neck alone, leaving the top substantially free of such stresses. Bracing of the top can thus be minimized, and the top can be made of optimum thinness for acoustic quality.
Abstract: A sound absorbing panel (1) is disclosed having several grooves (3a,3b) opening in the shape of a funnel in parallel opposite surfaces. At their intersections the grooves (3a, 3b) form relatively small holes. The grooves (3a, 3b) exhibit a funnel-shaped cross-section, as a result of which sound emerging behind the panel (1) is dissipated and effectively absorbed in a backing layer consisting, for example, of fiber glass. The panel (1) is flexible and reflects incident light well.
Abstract: A photosensing device in which a camera picks up through a see through-hole formed through a light diffuser reflection board an image of an object to be photosensed that has a high light reflectivity and that is indirectly irradiated upon by a light source, a member having a light reflectivity substantially same as that of the light diffuser reflection board and a property to pass therethrough the light is tightly fit to the see through-hole, and the camera picks up the object to be photosensed through the member.
Abstract: A thin plate composed of a carbon fiber reinforced plastic laminate of plural reinforced resin sheets, in which each sheet has continuous carbon fibers oriented in a predetermined direction and matrix resin enveloping the carbon fibers, the matrix resin having a glass transition temperature at least equal to 120.degree. C., and the plate having a thickness in a range of 60 to 120 .mu.m.
Abstract: A double-walled cylinder in the form of an exhaust pipe, muffler, or catalytic converter is provided less heat or sound conductive in its radial direction by filling the annular gap between the inner and outer cylinder with low-density, high-temperature resistant, inorganic spheroids.

The enclosure (10) also includes a wall (54 and/or 56) for dividing the enclosure (10) interior into a first portion (16) and a second portion (18). The enclosure (10) wall (20 and/or 22) includes a vent (52) for venting one of the first (16) and second (18) portions outside the enclosure (10), and a vent (74) for venting the other of the first (16) and second (18) portions outside the enclosure (10). The enclosure (10) further comprises a step (38) for mounting a transducer (12) perimetral edge. The step (38) extends inwardly from the enclosure (10) wall (20 and/or 22) into the enclosure (10) interior. The vent (52) for venting one of the first (16) and second ( 18) enclosure portions is provided between the step (38) and the back of the enclosure (10).

Abstract: A sound reproducing apparatus is provided formed of an acoustic tube having first and second opposite ends, and having substantially a same inside diameter as that of an external acoustic meatus of the user who is wearing the sound reproducing apparatus. A loudspeaker unit is mounted to the acoustic tube intermediate the first and second ends such that a sound radiating surface thereof is directed to one side of the acoustic tube. The acoustic tube has at its first end an auricular attachment which is received at the external acoustic meatus. A second end is formed as a non-sound-reflecting end. The sound reproducing apparatus may also be adapted to have two loudspeaker units mounted to one or more acoustic tubes, respectively, and two auricular attachment sections may be provided, one for each ear. Left and right channel acoustical signals may be respectively input to the respective first and second loudspeaker units for stereo operation.
Abstract: The invention relates to a damper mechanism for upright piano, comprising a damper felt mounted on a damper wood, and in which the damper wood is equipped with a guide stem directionally adjusted perpendicularly to the plane of the strings and guided to move reciprocally in a bore of a block fixed on a support independent of the mechanism controlling the hammers. Members are interposed between the key and the damper guide stem for reciprocally moving the latter in response to the movement of the key.
