Abstract: A system and methods and user interface are disclosed for searching documents based on conceptual association, and for ranking documents based on content characteristics. A computer processing system receives a query containing a word or phrase that is a name of an object or concept, and can also receive a value for a customized ranking parameter. A computer storage device stores a dataset related to the object or concept name, wherein the dataset includes a plurality of property names and can also include association-strength values. A computer processing system can count a first frequency of a first property name and count a second frequency of a second property name in a document containing text in a natural language, calculate a relevance score as a function of the first frequency and the second frequency, and rank the plurality of documents using their respective relevance scores, and return one or more documents to the user based on the ranking of the plurality of documents.

Abstract: Time required for a file server to determine files to be migrated from a first storage region to a second storage region is reduced. A file service system coupled to the storage system for providing a first storage region and a second storage region stores identifiers of files that have been accessed by a client, in accessed file identifier information and determines the files to be migrated from the first storage region to the second storage region based on metadata of the files stored in the first storage region and the accessed file identifier information.

Abstract: A system and a method for sharing online storage services among multiple users are provided. The system includes a user communication interface, a file processing module, and an online storage communication interface. The user communication interface is configured to connect to a client end corresponding to a first user. When the user communication interface receives a file upload request and a corresponding upload file from the client end, the file processing module searches for a personal online storage of the first user and a shared online storage of at least one related user of the first user and determines to upload the upload file to a partial online storage of the personal online storage and the shared online storage. The online storage communication interface transfers the upload file to the partial online storage determined by the file processing module.

Abstract: One embodiment of a method of the present invention for discovering sensitive information on computer network provides for discovering databases on a computer network, defining a pattern for a data discovery, discovering qualifying records by matching the pattern with field names and/or record values in the databases, sending electronic notification to a database administrator managing the qualifying database, receiving a selection choice from the database administrator managing the qualifying database identifying the status for the qualifying records.

Abstract: One embodiment of a system of the present invention for discovering sensitive information on computer network includes means for discovering databases on a computer network, means for defining a pattern for a data discovery, means for discovering qualifying records by matching the pattern with field names and/or record values in the databases, means for sending electronic notification to a database administrator managing the qualifying database, means for receiving a selection choice from the database administrator managing the qualifying database identifying the status for the qualifying records.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for capturing database system workload and replaying that workload in a database system is provided. According to one aspect, in order to subject a test database system to the same workload to which the production database system actually would be subjected, a database server in the production system captures and records workload that the database server receives from external entities. This captured workload is processed. Processes external to a database server in the test database system send the processed workload to that database server. As a result, the test database system is subjected to the same workload to which the production database system originally was subjected. The foregoing technique permits a database administrator to determine how the production database system will fare if the difference that is present in the test database system is introduced into the production database system.

Abstract: Systems and methods for managing electronic data are disclosed. Various data management operations can be performed based on a metabase formed from metadata. Such metadata can be identified from an index of data interactions generated by a journaling module, and obtained from their associated data objects stored in one or more storage devices. In various embodiments, such processing of the index and storing of the metadata can facilitate, for example, enhanced data management operations, enhanced data identification operations, enhanced storage operations, data classification for organizing and storing the metadata, cataloging of metadata for the stored metadata, and/or user interfaces for managing data. In various embodiments, the metabase can be configured in different ways. For example, the metabase can be stored separately from the data objects so as to allow obtaining of information about the data objects without accessing the data objects or a data structure used by a file system.

Abstract: Summarizing a set of reviews is disclosed. In some embodiments, a set of reviews is analyzed, e.g., by an at least partially automated process. A summary of the information included in the set of reviews is provided. The summary includes a visual indication of a range and distribution of opinions expressed in the set of reviews. In some embodiments, the set of reviews includes reviews from one or more members of an online or other user community, such as customers of an online store, subscribers to a podcast, blog, or other online source of content, etc.

The present invention also includes a method of integrating knowledge engines in a cloud computing environment.

Abstract: This invention relates to an advertisement machine which provides advertisements to a user searching for desired information within a data network. The machine receives, from a user, a search request including a search argument corresponding to the desired information and searches, based upon the received search argument, a first database having data network related information to generate search results. It also correlates the received search argument to a particular advertisement in a second database having advertisement related information. The search results together with the particular advertisement are provided by the machine to the user.

Abstract: A method and system for identifying informative links of a web site for use in crawling the web site is provided. A forum crawler analyzes sample web pages of a web forum to identify informative links and then crawls the web forum by following links determined to be informative and not following other links. The forum crawler system determines whether links are informative based on whether they are part of the overall structure of the web site or are used to select sequential information that has been split onto multiple web pages.

Abstract: An electronic device, data processing method, data control method, and content data processing system enabling a user to search for a track reproduced in the past, but with a forgotten title name and an artist name. A CPU displays on an LCD panel a reproduction history screen displaying a number of tracks reproduced that day on a calendar. By a user operation via an input device, the CPU switches the reproduction history screen to another reproduction history screen displaying a list of tracks reproduced on a certain other day as the reproduction history list. It reproduces the track selected by the user and allows editing of its attribute.

Abstract: A computer readable storage medium comprises executable instructions to generate a stream cube to store data received from multiple data sources. A plurality of multi-dimensional data streams are generated to represent the received data. A materialization strategy is repeatedly determined for the stream cube. The stream cube is materialized according to the materialization strategy to record the multi-dimensional data streams.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for evaluating substitute terms. One of the methods includes selecting a first term and a second term. A first co-occurrence frequency is determined for co-occurring terms in search queries that include the first term. A first vector is generated for the first term using the first co-occurrence frequencies. A second co-occurrence frequency is determined for the co-occurring terms in the search queries that include the first term adjacent to the second term. A second vector is generated for the second term using the second co-occurrence frequencies. A score for the second term as a context for a substitution rule based on the first term is computed, wherein the score is based on a comparison between the first vector and the second vector.

In some embodiments, query generation for searchable content includes receiving searchable content (e.g., the searchable content can include a unique identifier for the searchable content, such as a Uniform Resource Locator (URL) for a web site, and the web site can include one or more web pages); and generating a set of queries, the set of queries including one or more queries (e.g., the set of queries can include ranked queries) that are relevant to the searchable content.

Abstract: A plurality of phrases may be extracted from documents associated with one or more document sources. The plurality of phrases may be filtered and processed to determine a frequency in which the plurality of phrases appear in the documents and/or a number of the document sources in which each phrase appears. A weight may be assigned to each of the phrases and, based at least in part on the assigned weight, a visual representation of the plurality of phrases may be presented. The visual representation may be dynamically updated based at least in part on an updated frequency or an updated total number of document sources associated with any one of the plurality of phrases.

Abstract: A system, method and program product for that utilizes user feedback as a boosting mechanism for closed loop content space search processes, such as site-specific web search engines. A search engine is disclosed that includes: a system for searching a database of content items such as web pages; a data collection system for collecting user feedback from users viewing displayed content items regarding information appearing in said displayed content items; a scoring system for assigning a score to content items from the database based on the user feedback; and a system for ranking a set of search results based on the score assigned to content items in the set of search results.
