  • Patent number: 7097542
Abstract: A method and apparatus for polishing a thin film on a semiconductor substrate is described. A polishing pad is rotated and a wafer to be polished is placed on the rotating polishing pad. The polishing pad has grooves that channels slurry between the wafer and polishing pad and rids excess material from the wafer, allowing an efficient polishing of the surface of the wafer. The polishing pad smoothes out due to the polishing of the wafer and must be conditioned to restore effectiveness. A conditioning assembly with a plurality of diamonds is provided. The diamonds have predetermined angles that provide strength to the diamond. This allows for an optimal rotation speed and downward force in effective conditioning of the polishing pad, while reducing diamond fracture rate.

  • Patent number: 7096760
Abstract: A pliers-type stripping tool includes a base, a pair of pivot levers pivotally connected with the base, a pair of clamping members connected for relative longitudinal displacement on one of the pivot levers, a pair of cutting members connected for relative longitudinal displacement on the other of the pivot levers, a first spring biasing the clamping jaws apart, a second spring biasing the cutting jaws apart, and a first operating arrangement operable by a pair of pivotally-connected handles to displace the clamping and cutting jaws together from their normal separated conditions toward adjacent positions in clamping and insulation-piercing engagement with an insulated conductor positioned therebetween. The cutting members sever a length of the insulation layer that extends concentrically around the conductor, and a second operating arrangement is operable by the handles to separate the pivot levers, thereby to strip the severed insulation layer from the bare conductor.

  • Patent number: 7080579
Abstract: A ratchet wrench includes a handle and an annular head formed on the handle. The annular head defines a first space, a second space in communication with the first space and a third space in communication with the second space. An annular gear is positioned rotationally in the first space. In the second space is a direction controller including two pawls and a spring between the pawls. Partially in the third space is a direction switch for engaging selective one of the pawls with the annular gear. The direction switch defines a recess. On the annular head is a spring-biased rod detent for automatic insertion into the recess after the direction switch is moved partially in the third space, thus locking the direction switch to the annular head while allowing the rotation of the direction switch on the annular head.

  • Patent number: 7055515
Abstract: This invention relates to tiers of kerf engaging elements at saw blade sides. The tiers recede from the blade's most forward peripheral cutting elements and project laterally to engage the kerf in incremental steps as the blade advances into the material addressed. Each tier is designed to perform a distinctive action. Individual tiers may be designed to plane, or shave, or scratch, or scrape, or sand, or burnish. The mentioned preferred embodiment of this invention submits the kerf to coarse sanding, fine sanding, and burnishing with one pass of the blade.

  • Patent number: 7025054
Abstract: A method of cutting a rare-earth alloy with a wire saw, obtained by fixing abrasive grains on a core wire with a resin layer, includes the step of moving the wire saw while a portion of the rare-earth alloy being machined with the wire saw is immersed in a coolant, which is mainly composed of water and has a surface tension of about 25 mN/m to about 60 mN/m at about 25° C., thereby cutting the rare-earth alloy. In the wire saw, an average distance between two of the abrasive grains, which are adjacent to each other in a length direction, is about 150% to less than about 400% of the average grain size of the abrasive grains, an average height of portions of the abrasive grains, protruding from the surface of the resin layer, is about 70% or less of the average grain size of the abrasive grains, and a thickness deviation percentage of the resin layer with respect to the core wire is about 40%.

  • Patent number: 7021179
Abstract: The power screwdriver comprises a functional part (11) with a housing (14) through which a shaft (17) passes. The shaft (17) is provided with a toothing (18), into which a ratchet lever of the functional part (11) engages. A splined shaft toothing (20) of the shaft (17) has an insertion recess (21) that changes into a cavity (22). The wall of the cavity (22) is provided with a torsion sensor (23) and forms a measuring section (25) that is located in the area of the shaft (17) covered by the housing (14). A torsion measurement is effected in the measuring section (25). Due to the measuring section (25) being located in the area of the shaft covered by the housing (14), the shaft (17) is relatively short whereby it may be used under tight spatial screwing conditions involving a low head height above the screw. The power wrench is additionally provided with an angle measuring device (33) whereby torque and angle of rotation can be simultaneously provided and can be used for controlling and recording.
