  • Patent number: 4558942
Abstract: A document handling apparatus/copy sheet processor/finishing apparatus arranged as an integrated system to produce bound copy sheets at high speed but with minimum mechanical activity by double exposing one or both sides of a document sheet, producing side-by-side copy sheets in accordance with either of the exposures modes, distributing the successive copy sheets alternately into receiving trays and utilizing a set transport for each of the trays to bring copy sets alternately to a single point binding device.

  • Patent number: 4553826
Abstract: This invention relates to a compact, lightweight pressure fusing device for permanently fixing electrostatic toner onto a copy sheet. The pressure fusing device of this invention includes a first cylindrical pressure fusing roll and a second cylindrical pressure fusing roll. The pressure fusing rolls are positioned to form a nip therebetween. The pressure fusing rolls are each relatively rotatable about their respective longitudinal axis. Either or both of the rolls may be driven. Each of the pressure fusing rolls is rotatably fixed within a substantially rigid bearing housing and is rotatable on a bearing within the bearing housing. Both the bearing and bearing housing extend substantially the entire longitudinal length of the pressure fusing roll so that pressure applied to the bearing housing is transmitted uniformly along the roll axis of each pressure fusing roll and the roll is constrained against longitudinal deflection.

  • Patent number: 4545668
Abstract: An electronic copying machine of the shell-type with a main body having an upper unit and a lower unit. The upper unit is provided with an original tray on which originals to be copied after being automatically fed to an exposure table are disposed. The upper unit is connected to the lower unit by a connecting part, in such a way that the upper unit can be swung by a predetermined angle in relation to the lower unit. The original tray is slanted, with its front end being made lower than its back end, to thereby form an elevation angle equal to or larger than the predetermined angle, in relation to the horizontal face. Even if the upper unit is swung by the predetermined angle, in relation to the lower unit, to expose the inside of the copying machine when a paper jamming trouble occurs the original tray is not slanted until its back end is made lower than the horizontal face, thus preventing the originals from sliding down from the back end of said original tray.

  • Patent number: 4536681
Abstract: A temperature compensated control circuit in an electrophotographic copy machine having a machine "ready" portion for presenting a machine ready condition and with which an intermediate copy sheet is used for exposure to the output of a light source including a time adjustable control circuit portion providing a time period during which the light source is energized. The time adjustable control circuit portion has a temperature sensitive element for shortening the time period as the temperature within the machine increases and for lengthening the time period as the temperature within the machine decreases. Such automatic temperature adjustment compensates the exposure time versus temperature relationship of the intermediate sheet.
