  • Patent number: 5170941
Abstract: The present invention is a premixing-type spray gun which mixes a paint and compressed air inside the atomizing head and blows out the mixture as atomized from the spray hole. The inner and outer surfaces of the center hole in the atomizing head of the spray gun body are conical, and there is formed at the center of the cap having a nearly concentrical thickness at a lip-like aperture by providing a generally V-shaped recess from outside. Paint can be sprayed under a pressue of less than 1 kgf/cm.sup.2 with which the paint is less scattered, and the sprayed particle sizes can be made fine as with the conventional air spray guns.

  • Patent number: 4974518
Abstract: A machine for automatically setting rail tie plates includes a frame adapted to be propelled along a rail bed having one or both rails removed, the frame including a hopper adapted to store a plurality of randomly oriented plates therein, a crane for transferring plates to a plate sorting conveyor which sorts the plates as to specified length-to-width orientation and deposits the oriented plates upon an inclined conveyor where they are sensed as to specified top-to-bottom orientation, with improperly oriented plates being automatically inverted; the sensed and inverted plates are then manually disposed as to proper high-to-low side orientation, from where they are stored for eventual automatic deposition upon the tie by a reciprocating pusher assembly.

  • Patent number: 4917306
Abstract: A fuel injection nozzle comprises a valve member which is biased into contact with a seating by a spring supported on a spring abutment having an integral extension which projects through an aperture in the end face of a holder which carries a nozzle body in which the valve member is located. The valve member is in engagement with the extension. A sleeve surrounds the valve member and is slidable in the body and is engageable with the extension. The valve member and the sleeve move together against the action of the spring under the action of fuel pressure to allow fuel flow to an outlet. The movement of the sleeve is arrested by a stop surface defined by the end face of the holder. The continued movement of the valve member being under the action of the fuel pressure acting on the valve member alone, until its movement is arrested by a stop.

  • Patent number: 4874131
Abstract: The invention is a color dosification and application machine. The machine has a rotary cutter that has a face plane and an internal plane. The machine also has a drive element for rotating the rotary cutter. On the rotary center are a plurality of blades. The blades emerge from the rotary cutter in an oblique position and form helical channels. The peripheral portion of the blades engage pigment bars during their rotation. The pigment bars are powdered and the powder is transported down the helical channel formed by the blades. At the central, terminal portion of the helical channel, the powder enters a needle through which gas and fluid pass. The gas and fluid passing through the needle mix with the powdered pigment and the mixture is sprayed through a nozzle.

  • Patent number: 4789099
Abstract: A method for chemical spray treatment of unwanted bird roosts whereby a mixture of water and chemical wetting agents are pumped to the spray location under high pressure through flexible water hose. A single vertical riser pipe is assembled and hinge mounted to a portable base support which is adjusted to match the ground terrain. A water powered rotating sprinkler is attached to the top of the pipe and adjusted to the desired spray arc and radius. The pipe and sprinkler are hoisted to the vertical position, secured, and the roost is sprayed until the birds are soaked. The portable base support is assembled with hinge pins and has adjustments on each leg to allow it to conform to the ground terrain.

  • Patent number: 4768716
Abstract: A windshield washer control for a vehicle is responsive to vehicle speed to vary the speed of an electric motor driven pump so as to vary the pump pressure with vehicle speed and thus counteract the downward dislocating effect, increasing with vehicle speed, of air rushing over the windshield, whereby the cleaning fluid is applied to a predetermined target area of the windshield regardless of varying vehicle speed. In addition, the pump may be activated for a time varying inversely with vehicle speed to counteract the variation of volume flow with varying pump pressure and thus cause a substantially constant volume of cleaning fluid to be applied to the windshield for each activation of the pump.

  • Patent number: 4765544
Abstract: An electrostatic spray gun wherein the barrel is formed by two tubes which define an annular gap for gaseous or pulverulent material. An electrode is installed in the inner tube between the front and rear ends of such tube and has two or more prongs extending outwardly into the gap. The central portion of the electrode has one or more discharging portions in a path for the flow of pulverulent or gaseous material toward a deflector which is releasably mounted at the front end of the inner tube. The electrode is connected with a high-voltage conductor which is mounted in a tubular shield within the inner tube.

  • Patent number: 4760957
Abstract: A flow regulator comprises a housing having a passageway for a fluid flowing therethrough from its inlet to its outlet; a resilient sealing member circumscribing the inlet to the passageway; and a flow regulator member overlying the passageway inlet and spaced therefrom by a plurality of axially-extending teeth carried by the flow regulator member. The teeth are spaced circumferentially around the passageway inlet and are engageable at their outer edges with the resilient sealing member such as to define flow paths in the spaces between the teeth. The flow regulator member is movable axially of the passageway in response to the difference in pressure on its opposite faces to press the teeth to different depths into the resilient sealing member and thereby to regulate the flow through the flow paths by varying the dimensions of the spaces between the teeth.

  • Patent number: 4746073
Abstract: A method and apparatus for physical separation of aleurone cell particles and pericarp-testa particles from commercial wheat bran, the method comprises removing from a fraction of aleurone cell particles and pericarp-testa articles within the sieve mesh range of larger than about 130 .mu.m and smaller than about 290 .mu.m, obtained from commerical wheat bran by subjecting the bran to hammer-milling whereby the bran is broken and reduced into particles which consist predominantly of pericarp-testa particles and aleurone cell particles and then sized to the sieve mesh range, a fraction of particles which are smaller than about 40 .mu.m and electrostatically charging the remaining aleurone cell particles and pericarp-testa particles.

  • Patent number: 4708291
Abstract: A sprinkler (2) includes a rotary nozzle (6) mounted on a body (4). A reversible drive (12) includes an internal gear (14) connected to the nozzle (6), a motor (16) having a unidirectional output shaft (18), and an oscillating gear train (20) having two final drive gears (27) or (29) which rotate reversely relative to one another and are engageable with driven gear (14) for reversing the direction of nozzle rotation. The first and second final drive gears (27) and (29) are mounted on first and second pivot arms (22a) and (22b) and are part of two gear sets (26) or (28). The numbers of gears in each gear set (26) or (28) is selected in conjunction with the direction of the pivoting motion of the pivoting arms (22a) or (22b) so that the additional rotation induced on the final drive gears as they rotate above the stationary part of the gear train (20) will always be counter to the normal direction of rotation thereof.
