  • Patent number: 12378871
Abstract: A system can generate, via a software model, downhole pressure estimations and downhole debris estimations using caving parameters. Additionally, the system can generate, via the software model, settled caving volume percent estimations using the caving parameters. The system can determine a pack off volume percent using the downhole pressure estimations, the downhole debris estimations, and the settled caving volume percent estimations. The system can output, via a user interface, the pack off indicator and a subset of the caving parameters for use in adjusting a wellbore operation. The user interface can provide a plot of the pack off volume percent horizontally offset with respect to a plot of the subset of the caving parameters and a depth of the wellbore.

  • Patent number: 12331634
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for controlling a downhole tool by encoding a tool control signal in a fluid flow and obtaining a temperature response downhole. In an example, a system for controlling a downhole tool includes a signal transmitter, a signal receiver, and a controller. The signal transmitter is uphole of the tool to be controlled (e.g., at surface) and encodes the tool control signal by varying one or more fluid flow parameters of a fluid flow down a well. The signal receiver is positionable in the well in fluid communication with the fluid flow. The signal receiver detects a temperature response in the fluid flow resulting from varying the one or more fluid flow parameters. A controller controls the downhole tool according to the temperature response.

  • Patent number: 12320246
Abstract: A control system for a pressure management apparatus (PMA) of a drilling system has an onsite device in close proximity to and in communication with the PMA and an offsite device at a remote location. Both the onsite and offsite devices are connected to a network, such as the Internet, through which the devices can communicate with one another. The onsite device receives data in real-time from the PMA and the offsite device can access the data in real-time via the network. The offsite device can generate a command based on the data or user input at the offsite device and send the command to the onsite device to modify one or more settings of the PMA. A control panel is displayed on the user interface of the offsite device to allow an operator to remotely control the PMA.

  • Patent number: 12293424
Abstract: A drilling system may have a drilling rig with a drill string including a BHA with a drill bit. The method may include determining a current BHA location and a future BHA location based on the current BHA location and a current trajectory of the BHA and comparing the future BHA location to a target drilling path. • Patent number: 12258819
Abstract: During drilling operations by a drilling rig, drill bits may need to be changed, which can lead to inefficiency. Thus, a process is disclosed for automatically changing drill bits. The process utilizes the existing ability of the drill to tilt. In particular, a magazine may be provided that comprise a plurality of drill-bit pockets arranged in at least one column. Each of the drill-bit pockets within one column holds a drill bit at a different angle within the range of angles at which the drill is able to tilt. The process may control the angle of the drill to align with the angle of any one of the drill-bit pockets, and operate a drill string to release a drill bit into, or engage a drill bit within, that drill-bit pocket. Also, the magazine may comprise two or more columns, in which case, the magazine may be configured to slide laterally.
