Abstract: An electrophysiology catheter has a distal electrode section having a generally-cylindrical, hollow housing body, a lumen and an opening in a sidewall. A flex circuit has a first portion supported on the outer surface the housing body, and a second portion that extends into the lumen via the opening for connection to cables and/or wires in the lumen. The flex circuit has a first and second magnetic field sensing coil traces generally perpendicular to each other and a magnetic field sensing coil wire generally perpendicular thereto is wound around the housing body to form an x/y/z position sensor. One or more ring electrodes are carried on the housing body, separated by ring spacers. A force sensor is mounted on a distal end of the housing body, with strain gauges electrically connected to the flex circuit. The housing is configured to provide a distal anchor for a puller tensile.
Abstract: A shaft assembly for a microwave ablation applicator which includes a shaft assembly and an antenna assembly located within the shaft assembly is disclosed. The shaft assembly comprises an elongate shaft which extends from a first end to a second end thereof, and which defines therein a hollow inner volume and a longitudinal axis of the antenna assembly, and an applicator tip mounted on the second end of the elongate shaft. The applicator tip defines an annular slot with which the second end of the elongate shaft engages. At least part a portion of the second end of the shaft is of a fibre reinforced plastics material having a plurality of elongate fibres bound in a plastics material, at least some of the fibres extending at least partially circumferentially around the annular slot of the applicator tip.

Abstract: A method and system for use in surgery, which includes a grasper having a jaw, and a grasper housing having a proximal end and distal end and defining a docking opening, and a tool having a tool housing having a proximal end, a distal end and defining an inner surface, and a robotic device operably coupled to the proximal end of the grasper housing, and configured to actuate the jaw of the grasper. The tool housing having an operative assembly at the distal end of the tool housing, and the tool housing defining a docking assembly at the proximal end of the tool housing. The operative assembly having a fulcrum operably coupled to the tool housing, a first lever operably connected to the fulcrum, an instrument operably coupled to the first lever, and an actuator operably coupled to the tool housing and the first lever.
