Abstract: System, methods, and other embodiments described herein relate to determining whether lanes in a surrounding environment of an ego vehicle are occupied. In one embodiment, a method includes, in response to detecting a surrounding vehicle from sensor data acquired about the surrounding environment by the ego vehicle, updating a vehicle track for the surrounding vehicle in relation to the ego vehicle. The method includes computing a position probability indicating a probable lateral position of the surrounding vehicle in relation to the ego vehicle as a function of the vehicle track. The method includes generating an occupancy indicator specifying which of the lanes the surrounding vehicle is occupying according to the position probability satisfying an occupancy threshold for a respective one of the lanes.

  • Patent number: 10540894
Abstract: A wireless communication device mountable in a vehicle acquires first position information on the vehicle and receives a packet signal from another wireless communication device, the packet signal including second position information on another vehicle in which the other wireless communication device is mounted. The wireless communication device has a storage that stores log information and a controller. The controller predicts whether the vehicle crosses the other vehicle at a point of crossing based on the first position information and the second position information, estimates a structure of crossing corresponding to the point of crossing based on the history information, and determines, when it is predicted that the vehicle crosses the other vehicle at the point of crossing, whether or not to notify a presence of the other vehicle to a driver of the vehicle, in accordance with the structure of crossing corresponding to the point of crossing.

  • Patent number: 10529213
Abstract: A method includes receiving a first signal indicating a first movement in first predefined zone at a first time. A first activation signal is communicated to cause a first light source in the first predefined zone to be activated and provide downward illumination in the first predefined zone. A second activation signal is communicated to cause a second light source that in a second predefined zone to be activated and provide downward illumination in the second predefined zone. Responsive to an absence of receiving a second signal indicating a second/return movement in the first predefined zone at or before a second time that is after the first time, an alarm signal is transmitted that is indicative of an occurrence of a potential non-normal event.

  • Patent number: 10529197
Abstract: A system is provided that controls an offline haptic conversion. The system receives an input from a source. The system further converts the input into haptic signals. The system further encodes the haptic signals. The system further stores the haptic signals within the source, where the haptic signals are combined with the input within the source. Alternately, rather than encoding the haptic signals and storing the haptic signals within the source, the system handles the haptic signals separately, independent of the source.

  • Patent number: 10521984
Abstract: Techniques described and suggested in the present document include access-card systems and methods that are resistant to attack. In certain implementations, a card reader transmits a challenge message to an access card. When the access card receives the challenge message, the access card validates the challenge message, and then generates a response message based at least in part on the information contained in the challenge message. A security server validates the response message, and when the security server determines that the response is secure, valid, and from an authorized access card, the security server grants access to a physical space. In some implementations, the challenge and response messages are digitally signed using a cryptographic key. Additional implementations include various tests that, when performed on the challenge and/or response messages detect and defeat many attempts to compromise the access-card system.
