  • Patent number: 6887067
Abstract: A catalytically operating burner with a catalyzer structure (4), useful in particular for a gas turbine system, has a heat-resistant carrier material (10) that forms the walls of several adjoining channels (13). The channels (13) pervade the catalyzer structure (4) in longitudinal direction and permit that a gaseous reaction mixture flows through the catalyzer structure (4). The walls are coated at least in part with a catalyst. In order to improve the catalytic conversion within the catalyzer structure (4), communicating openings (14) are constructed in the walls between an inlet end and an outlet end of the catalyzer structure (4). Adjoining channels (13) are able to communicate with each other through the communicating openings (14).

  • Patent number: 6793484
Abstract: A flame-retardant wick holder for a candle is made of a material having a UL-94 vertical burn test rating of at least V-0, including polymers and ceramics. The wick holder supports a wick at the bottom of a candle. The wick holder material causes the flame on the wick to extinguish when it reaches the holder, thereby preventing flashover of the residual candle fuel at the end of the candle useful life. One version of the holder includes a barrier extending upwardly around the holder for catching a drooping wick from causing secondary wicking and possible flashover near the end of the candle useful life.

  • Patent number: 6790033
Abstract: A fireplace fountain having a base, a basin adapted to hold a liquid supported by the base, and a hood supported by the base over the basin. A fire pan is supported by the base over the basin and under the hood, with a burner being supported above the fire pan and adapted to be connected to a fuel source. A perforated tubing is supported in the hood, with a pump and supply tube connected thereto. The pump and supply tube are in fluid communication with the basin so that liquid held in the basin may be circulated by a pump to the perforated tubing. Liquid exits the perforated tubing and falls into the basin, but not into the fire pan so that the liquid does not extinguish any flame generated by the burner.

  • Patent number: 6786715
Abstract: A gas lighter in which the lighter is locked not to be accidentally ignited by preventing rotation of the side wheel and the lock can be released by an action which can be included in a series of the igniting actions of operating the side wheel to rotate the file wheel to generate a spark and depressing the actuator lever to eject the fuel gas so that even a large-handed person can be easily operate the gas lighter. The ignition means comprises a file wheel, a pair of side wheels fixed to the opposite faces of the file wheel to be rotated integrally therewith and a flint which is in abutment against a lower portion of the file wheel. The rotary shaft of the side wheels are supported for rotation and movement in a direction in which the flint is retracted. An engagement projection formed on the periphery of the side wheels is engaged with an engagement portion on a cap to prevent rotation of the file wheel, thereby locking the lighter not to be ignited.
