  • Patent number: 9996040
Abstract: Image formation is properly performed by suppressing an influence on a transfer property in the image formation due to variation in a toner particle charge amount. An image forming apparatus comprises a developing device for performing development using developer including a charged toner particle, a toner supply container for supplying the toner particle to a development unit, and a CPU for controlling a toner particle amount supplied to the developing device. The CPU calculates a toner consumption amount consumed by the development. Then, from the result, the CPU calculates a toner supply amount which makes the toner charge amount in the developing device constant. Then, the CPU supplies the toner of the calculated amount to the developing device.

  • Patent number: 9983514
Abstract: Provided is an image forming apparatus having high usability and securing both image quality and productivity. The image forming apparatus changes a rotational speed of a secondary transfer member depending on a basis weight of a sheet. The image forming apparatus performs digital sub-scanning scaling of correcting image data and polygon sub-scanning scaling of controlling a scanning speed during image formation so as to cancel out image deformation caused by change in rotational speed of the secondary transfer member. When giving priority to image quality, the image forming apparatus performs processing of the digital sub-scanning scaling and the polygon sub-scanning scaling, and when giving priority to productivity, the image forming apparatus performs only processing of digital sub-scanning scaling.

  • Patent number: 9927762
Abstract: In an imaging device having a photoconductive drum and a lubricant applicator brush, methods and apparatus teach application of the lubricant to the drum at a transfer nip and removing undeveloped toner particles. A first voltage is applied to the drum while the brush receives a voltage that switches more positive and more negative than the first voltage. It attracts to the brush from the drum negatively and positively charged toner. Embodiments contemplate amounts of voltages and frequencies of switching. An elongate rod contacts the brush downstream of the transfer nip to flicker off the toner particles from the brush. The rod can also have voltages applied and switched greater than and lesser than the voltages of the applicator brush to facilitate toner removal. A cleaning blade downstream of the transfer nip scrapes clean a surface of the drum.
