    Abstract: An ethylene polymer extrusion composition having high draw down and substantially reduced neck-in, a process for making such a composition and a process of using such a composition to prepare extrusion coatings, extrusion profiles and extrusion cast films are disclosed. The ethylene polymer extrusion composition is made of 75-95 weight percent of at least one ethylene .alpha.-olefin interpolymer and 5-25 weight percent of at least one high pressure ethylene polymer characterized as having high melt strength and a broad, bimodal molecular weight distribution. In profiles, coatings or films, the composition can be used as sealant, adhesive or abuse resistance layers.

    Abstract: Intervulcanized compositions having improved curing efficiency are prepared by the free radical curing of a mixture of an ethylenically unsaturated diolefin polymer such as natural or synthetic rubber and a saturated or low unsaturation polymer such as an ethylene propylene elastomers copolymer which contains functional groups pendant to the polymer chain. These functional groups contain an olefinic or vinyl double bond positioned alpha, beta to a substituent group which activates the double bond towards free radical addition reactions with the diolefin polymer. Preferred functionality includes benzylic ester functionality represented by the structure: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are independently selected from hydrogen or C.sub.1 to C.sub.6 alkyl, and R.sub.4 is selected from hydrogen, C.sub.1 to C.sub.28 alkyl, aryl or C.sub.2 to C.sub.28 alkenyl.

The composition is prepared by melt blending a propylene polymer, e.g., polypropylene, and from about 1 to 35 wt % of an elastomeric interpolymer of a C.sub.4 to C.sub.8 isomonoolefin, e.g., isobutylene, and a para alkystyrene comonomer, e.g., para-methylstyrene. The interpolymer preferably contains a benzylic functional group such as halogen (bromine). The composition may also contain from about 0.5 to 15 wt % of the amide reaction product of an organic acid-grafted propylene polymer, e.g., maleic anhydride grafted polypropylene, and a polyfunctional primary amine.

    Abstract: Blends of chlorinated polyvinyl chloride and chlorinated polyethylene and methods for preparing extruded profiles such as a window spacer, a glazing bead, a window lineal, and a track for lighting, having smooth surface characteristics are disclosed. The blends comprise 100 weight parts CPVC containing from 62% to 72% chlorine, preferably 65% to 71% chlorine and from 10 to 30 weight parts, preferably 15 to 25 parts of chlorinated polyethylene containing from 25 to 45% chlorine and extruding the blend. The preferred embodiments of the invention are further defined by a particular combination for the chlorine content of CPVC, the real weight average molecular weight of CPE (M.sub.w) and polydispersity (M.sub.w /M.sub.n), defined as the ratio of the weight average to number average molecular weight, and extrusion shear rate.
