Abstract: The present invention relates to novel N-phenyl-N-pyrimidin-2-ylureas having a herbicidal and plant growth-regulating activity, to agrochemical compositions that contain those substances as active ingredients, to the use of the novel ureas for controlling weeds or for regulating plant growth, and to processes for the preparation of the novel compounds. The invention also relates to novel intermediates and to processes for the preparation thereof. The novel compounds correspond to formula I ##STR1## in which the radicals R.sup.1 to R.sup.6 have the meanings given in the text.
Abstract: The invention is directed to a process for the production of uretdione group-containing compounds by dimerizing at least a part of the isocyanate groups of organic isocyanates in the presence of compounds containing phosphorus-nitrogen bonds as dimerization catalysts, characterized in that the reaction is carried out in the presence, as co-catalysts, of H-active organic compounds having a pKa-value of at least 6, which have at least one hydrogen atom bound to oxygen, sulphur or nitrogen. The invention also relates to the uretdione group-containing compounds obtained according to this process and to their use for the production of plastics materials according to the isocyanate-polyaddition process.

Abstract: N-alkanoylglutamic acid derivatives in which the alkanoyl group is substituted with the 2-amino-4-hydroxy-5,6,7,8-tetrahydropyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidine-6-yl or 2,4-diamino-5,6,7,8-tetrahydropyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidin-6-yl group are antineoplastic agents. Typical embodiments are N-[6-(2-amino-4-hydroxy-5,6,7,8-tetrahydropyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidin-6-yl)hexa noyl]-L-glutamic acid and N-[4-{-(2-amino-4-hydroxy-5,6,7,8-tetrahydropyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidin-6-yl ethyl}cyclohex-1-yl]-L-glutamic acid.

Abstract: Novel diazepinium compounds having the structural formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.2 and R.sup.4 are individually alkyl of 3 to 7 carbon atoms R.sup.5, R.sup.6 and R.sup.7 are individually H or alkyl; and X.crclbar. is an anion. The compounds are of the class of amidiniums, useful as dyes. The compounds are particularly useful in antireflective layers having unexpected thermal resistance for use in photoresist applications.
Abstract: Novel herbicides of the formula ##STR1## in which R.sup.1 represents alkyl,R.sup.2 represents hydrogen, alkyl, alkylcarbonyl, alkoxycarbonyl, alkylsulphonyl, alkenyl, alkinyl or optionally substituted aralkyl, andR.sup.3 represents optionally substituted aryl.Intermediates of the formula ##STR2## in which R.sup.6 is hydrogen, chlorine or hydroxyl, are also new.

Abstract: Process for the preparation of a compound of formula or a salt thereof ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 represents a hydrogen atom or a group of formula R.sub.2 SO.sub.2 or phenyl--CH(R.sub.3)-- wherein R.sub.2 represents a phenyl, tolyl or C.sub.1-4 alkyl group and R.sub.3 represents a hydrogen atom or a phenyl or C.sub.1-4 alkyl group, which process comprises contacting nickel in an oxidation state of at least 3 with a 3-hydroxymethyl azetidine derivative of formula ##STR2## wherein R.sub.4 represents a group of formula R.sub.2 SO.sub.2 or phenyl--CH(R.sub.3)-- and R.sub.5 represents a hydrogen atom or a hydroxymethyl group or a group of formula COOH or a salt thereof, followed, where R.sub.5 is not a hydrogen atom, by the decarboxylation of the compound of the 3,3-dicarboxylic intermediate product or a salt thereof and, if desired to produce a compound in which R.sub.1 represents a hydrogen atom, by deprotection of the N-atom.
