Abstract: Embodiments relate to a speed sensor device including a sensor element to provide a sensor signal, a status module to provide status information of the speed sensor device; and a processing module to generate an output signal. The output signal is derived from the sensor signal, if the status information is indicative of a non-critical state of the speed sensor device, and the output signal is a safety message signal having signal edges such that time intervals between subsequent congeneric signal edges are equal to or shorter than a preselected threshold, if the status in-formation is indicative of a critical state of the speed sensor device. An Electronic Control Unit (ECU) includes an interface for receiving a signal having signal edges from a speed sensor device and a processing unit to analyze time intervals between subsequent congeneric signal edges.

  • Patent number: 9625307
Abstract: An occupant determination apparatus includes a load sensor that detects weight of an occupant seated on a seat of a vehicle, and a determinator determining the weight of the occupant as one status among a plurality of statuses which is set corresponding to the weight based on the measurement weight measured by the load sensor. In a case where an absolute value of acceleration acting on the vehicle becomes equal to or larger than the threshold value set in advance, the determinator determines the weight of the occupant as one of the status among the plurality of statuses based on the measurement weight measured before it becomes the threshold value.

  • Patent number: 9590559
Abstract: A method for analyzing performance of a solar photovoltaic installation data indicating measured value of power generated by the photovoltaic installation receives and stores that data in a database. An expected output of the installation for at least one period of a test day using a first method is determined. The first expected output of the installation is compared with the measured value of power generated. If the expected output of the installation determined by the first method differs from the measured value by more than an acceptable tolerance, an expected output using another method is determined. If the expected output of the installation determined by the other method differs from the measured value by more than an acceptable tolerance, an under performance warning for the solar photovoltaic installation is issued.

  • Patent number: 9557312
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for operating a downhole tool within a wellbore adjacent a subterranean formation to pump contaminated fluid from the formation into the downhole tool while measuring first and second fluid properties of the contaminated fluid. The contaminated fluid comprises native fluid from the formation and a contaminant. The downhole tool is in communication with surface equipment located at surface. The downhole tool and/or surface equipment is operated to estimate a formation volume factor of the contaminated fluid based on at least one of the first and second fluid properties of the contaminated fluid. A linear relationship is then estimated between the first fluid property and a function that relates the first fluid property to the second fluid property and the estimated formation volume factor of the contaminated fluid. A fluid property of the contaminant is then estimated based on the estimated linear relationship.

  • Patent number: 9535018
Abstract: Structural parameters of a specimen are determined by fitting models of the response of the specimen to measurements collected by different measurement techniques in a combined analysis. X-ray measurement data of a specimen is analyzed to determine at least one specimen parameter value that is treated as a constant in a combined analysis of both optical measurements and x-ray measurements of the specimen. For example, a particular structural property or a particular material property, such as an elemental composition of the specimen, is determined based on x-ray measurement data. The parameter(s) determined from the x-ray measurement data are treated as constants in a subsequent, combined analysis of both optical measurements and x-ray measurements of the specimen. In a further aspect, the structure of the response models is altered based on the quality of the fit between the models and the corresponding measurement data.

  • Patent number: 9535135
Abstract: A method for calculating a solar radiation amount is provided, which enables the prediction of a solar radiation amount with consideration also given to the small movement of a cloud that affects a power generation amount generated by a PV array and thereby improves the accuracy of prediction of the power generation amount generated by the PV array. From a measured output value of a solar panel, solar radiation and a temperature parameter are extracted. An output of a PV is calculated from the extracted solar radiation and temperature parameter. The calculated value is correlated with the measured value. A temperature correction coefficient is obtained so that a correlation coefficient is highest, and a solar radiation amount is calculated using the obtained correlation coefficient.
