  • Patent number: 5141770
Abstract: A gasket shield for counteracting electromagnetic interference is provided with a thin, elastomeric outer layer encapsulating a thicker, elastomeric inner layer as a flexible gasket, the outer layer constituting a metal-filled-elastomer exhibiting high conductivity and excellent attenuation of electrical energy. The thin outer layer is deposited by coating from solution such as by slot-head coating, dip-coating, gravure roll coating, spray coating or knife coating. In this way a thinner and more uniform outer layer can be provided than is achievable by co-extrusion, thereby providing a greater consistency and reduced costs, as well as a greater degree of metal-filling per unit volume of rubber matrix.

  • Patent number: 5088179
Abstract: A method is shown for forming a microwaveable container which is heated in the presence of microwave energy to warm contents placed within the container. The container has at least one exposed wall which does not contact the contents of the container. The exposed wall of the container is coated with a microwaveable, room temperature vulcanizable composition and allowed to cure. Exposure of the coated cup to microwave energy serves to heat the contents within the container.

  • Patent number: 5089291
Abstract: A method of forming a hard coat on a polyolefin base, a composite laminate or a formed article is disclosed, which comprises coating the surface of the polyolefin base with an ultraviolet-curable resin composition comprising (a) a polymer containing at least 80% by weight of methyl methacrylate and/or a modified polymer containing at least 80% by weight of methyl methacrylate and having introduced into the side chain thereof a (meth)acryloyl group, (b) a polyfunctional acrylate containing at least 50% by weight of dipentaerythritol hexaacrylate, the weight ratio of components (a) to (b) being from 1 to 10, and (c) a photopolymerization initiator, drying the coating to form an ultraviolet-curable resin layer, and curing the ultraviolet-curable resin layer by irradiation with ultraviolet light.

  • Patent number: 5064694
Abstract: This invention pertains to the use of silicone fine and micro emulsions in the web printing process. The use of the fine and micro emulsions provide improved antistatic and antimarring properties to the paper. They also have improved wetting onto the applicator roll and are dilution stable.

  • Patent number: 5063267
Abstract: The present invention relates to hydrogen silsesquioxane resin (H-resin) fractions derived from an extraction process using one or more fluids at, near or above their critical state. These fractions can comprise narrow molecular weight fractions with a dispersity less than about 3.0 or fractions useful for applying coatings on substrates. The invention also relates to a method of using these fractions for forming ceramic coatings on substrates.
