Patent number: 4131650Abstract: In the treatment of skin wherein an aqueous paste is applied to the skin, left in contact therewith for a period of time and thereafter removed, the improvement which comprises placing over the paste a foil containing at least about 3 percent of water soluble collagen by weight and having a water permeability of more than about 0.1 gram/dm.sup.2 /minute, whereby collagen is transported through the paste and is absorbed by the skin. Desirably the foil is about 0.01 to 0.03 mm thick and is cross-linked to an extent corresponding to that produced by about 0.1-0.5 percent by weight of glutardialdehyde applied in an acid medium. It may further contain a cosmetically active agent such as an amino acid, peptide, protein, hormone, placenta-extract, phosphatide, tissue-extract, fresh cells and vitamins. The paste may be dried by heating, producing shrinkage of the foil to increase contact with the skin.Type: GrantFiled: April 9, 1976Date of Patent: December 26, 1978Assignee: Firma Carl FreudenbergInventors: Klaus Braumer, Zdenek Eckmayer

Patent number: 4130560Abstract: New dicarboxylic acid derivatives containing a N,N-heterocyclic radical are obtained by reacting 1 mol of a cyclic ureide, such as 1,1-methylene-bis-hydantoin, benzimidazolone, parabanic acid, 6-methyluracil or 2,2-diethylbarbituric acid, with 2 mols of 4-halogenomethylbenzoic acid derivatives. The new dicarboxylic acid derivatives are valuable monomers for the manufacture of stable plastics. Thus, the dicarboxylic acid dialkyl esters, for example, can be converted by means of diols into polyesters with valuable mechanical properties.Type: GrantFiled: November 20, 1975Date of Patent: December 19, 1978Assignee: Ciba-Geigy CorporationInventor: Jurgen Habermeier

Patent number: 4129649Abstract: A process for producing amorphous preparations of steryl glucoside monopalmitates, wherein steryl glucoside monopalmitates are heated at a temperature above 110.degree. C up to about 145.degree. C or the compounds are dissolved in an organic solvent in which they are soluble with a solvent which is then distilled off, and the compounds then pulverized and mixed with physiologically harmless organic or inorganic fine particles in a proportion of 0.5 times (by weight) of the compounds or more, thereby homogeneously dispersing the amorphous compounds in the fine particles or uniformtly adsorbing the compounds on the fine particles, and the resulting preparations which have hemostatic properties and are readily absorbable upon ingestion. The starting steryl glucoside monopalmitates are obtained in crystalline form as from soy beans or other vegetable sources.Type: GrantFiled: May 5, 1976Date of Patent: December 12, 1978Assignee: Nippon Shinyaku Co.
