  • Patent number: 9204887
Abstract: A thrombus treatment device includes a support wire, a body frame portion that is disposed about an axis defined by the support wire, one or more tethers that each have a first end and a second end, and a filter element extending from the body frame portion. Each of the one or more tethers is attached at its first end to the body frame portion, and at its second end to a collar that couples the second end of each of the multiple tethers to the support wire. When the collar is positioned substantially within a region interior of the body frame portion, a rotational actuation of the support wire causes a swiveling motion of the one or more tethers.

  • Patent number: 9198591
Abstract: An implantable monitoring device includes a flexible lead body that includes at least one sensing element. The device also includes a rigid main body connected to the flexible lead body at an attachment point. The rigid main body is generally centered about a longitudinal axis defined by the flexible lead body when the lead body is unflexed. The device further includes a measurement circuit, which is housed within the rigid main body and electrically coupled to the at least one sensing element of the flexible lead body and at least another sensing element on an outside surface of the rigid main body. The measurement circuit is configured to measure a potential difference between the at least one sensing element of the flexible lead body and the at least another sensing element of the main body.

  • Patent number: 9138235
Abstract: A disposable tourniquet and its method of use is disclosed. The tourniquet is in the form of a band formed of a thin flexible, non-stretchable material and has releasable securable means, e.g., a pressure sensitive adhesive. The tourniquet is arranged to be wrapped around the patient's limb, tightened and locked in place to reduce circulation. The tourniquet has means for controlling the amount of tension applied to the band when it is tightened about the limb of the patient, means for indicating the amount of tension applied. Means for indicating the ambient temperature at the patient's limb on which the tourniquet is used may be included in the tourniquet. The tourniquet may also include means to enable it to be folded into a compact configuration. Plural tourniquets can be provided in the form of a stack.

  • Patent number: 9066825
Abstract: An intraluminal prosthesis includes a stent architecture having a series of stent elements repeating along a circumferential axis. One series of stent elements includes v-shaped stent elements having at least four different orientations, and V-shaped stent elements connecting adjacent v-shaped stent elements. One series of stent elements includes R-shaped stent elements having at least four different orientations, and U-shaped stent elements having at least two different orientations, the U-shaped stent elements connecting adjacent R-shaped stent elements. Adjacent series of stent elements can be connected by connectors. Portions of the stent elements may narrow in width along a length thereof. The stent architecture may include radiopaque element receiving members. The stent architecture may be formed by machining a metal or polymer tube. The intraluminal prosthesis may include one or more graft layers.

  • Patent number: 9060806
Abstract: A device and method for opening blood vessel blockages, such as chronic total occlusions, is disclosed. The device has a main body and motor unit. The main body has an inner tubular member disposed inside an outer tubular member. The inner tubular member is reinforced with hydrophilic polymer coated wires, which are drawn out into two pairs of loops at the distal end of the device. The motor unit also has an inner tubular member disposed within an outer tubular member. The motor unit is used to create torque to rotate the main body having the pairs of loops. When torque transmitted to main body, the device spins. As the device is advanced through a blood vessel, the rotating loops penetrate and break down the occlusion, and recanalizes the blood vessel. Then device is then exchanged over a guidewire and further therapeutic interventions can be performed to improve blood flow.
