  • Patent number: 9019870
Abstract: An example method stores a nomadic service designator and an operating mode designator in association with a public user identifier. The nomadic service designator indicates whether an IP device is allowed to access VoIP services from different network locations. The public user identifier facilitates establishing a call with the IP device. The operating mode designator indicates when the IP device is in a suspended operating mode and an unrestricted mode. The suspended operating mode restricts the IP device to a subset of communication services associated with a service subscription of the IP device, and to a 911 service. The unrestricted operating mode is based on a registered geographic location associated with the IP device being a current geographic location of the IP device, and is based on a service provider being able to provide an E911 service including a location-identification service at the current geographic location of the IP device.

  • Patent number: 8989026
Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to techniques for user-specific search space design for multi-carrier operation in Long Term Evolution Advanced (LTE-A) systems. The user-specific search space can be designed for searching Physical Downlink Control Channels (PDCCHs) transmitted on one component carrier (CC) that schedules Physical Downlink Shared Channel/Physical Uplink Shared Channel (PDSCH/PUSCH) transmissions on two or more different CCs. In one aspect, multiple independent user-specific search spaces can be designed. In another aspect, one user-specific search space can be randomly derived and then expanded to accommodate search for multiple CCs. In yet another aspect, the search space design can retain randomness in starting search element indices of multiple PDSCH/PUSCH CCs, while overlapping of search spaces for multiple PDSCH/PUSCH CCs can be avoided.

  • Patent number: 8982714
Abstract: A communication system is provided. A first communications device transmits at least one first message including predetermined bit sequences. A second communications device determines one or more antenna weighting vectors (AWVs) and one or more bitloading vectors (BLVs) by using the first message in accordance with a predetermined rule and transmits a second message including information pertinent to the AWVs and the BLVs to the first communications device. The first communications device further communicates with the second communications device about an AWV selected from the AWVs and the first and second communications devices apply the selected AWV to the corresponding antennas before exchanging data. The data includes a header carrying information pertinent to a BLV selected from the BLVs used to encode the data and a payload is transmitted to the second communications device. The second communications device decodes the data in accordance with the selected BLV.

  • Patent number: 8937956
Abstract: A network device receives multiple protocol data units (PDUs), or packets, and initiates aggregation of an intended number of the packets to form a transmission block. During the aggregation process, the device receives a priority PDU, or packet, and in response to receiving the priority PDU, terminates the aggregation process, either permanently or temporarily, even though the number of packets aggregated prior to receiving the priority packet is less than the number of packets intended to be included in the transmission block. The device releases the priority packet for transmission out of turn, ahead of the already aggregated packets. The priority packet can be released individually, with the aggregation being resumed after release of the priority packet, or the priority packet can be pre-pended to the already aggregated block of packets and the entire block released with a priority assigned according to the priority of the priority packet.

  • Patent number: 8929310
Abstract: A system and method for implementing fallback on a wireless device for circuit switched fallback from a first network that does not provide a circuit switched domain service is presented. A paging message is received from the first network. The paging message instructs the wireless device to implement circuit switched fallback to a circuit switched network. The paging message is inspected for information indicative of a service associated with the paging message, and a channel type suitable for the service is determined from the information indicative of the service. A request message for initiating the establishment of a radio connection is transmitted. The request message identifies the suitable channel type, and the service is used on the circuit switched network.

  • Patent number: 8908689
Abstract: The present invention provides an apparatus and method for processing a packet. An interface processing module selects one from all service processing modules as a service processing module for processing a packet; if the service processing module needs to perform tunnel processing for the packet, the service processing module transmits the packet after performing the tunnel processing; if another service processing module needs to perform tunnel processing for the packet, the service processing module transmits the packet to a service processing module needing to perform tunnel processing for the packet. According to the present invention, the packet can be processed uniformly by the service processing module, so it is not unnecessary to store session states in the service processing modules, and also not unnecessary to perform synchronization between the service processing modules, which greatly decreases complexity of processing the packet and saves system bandwidth.

The first MAC processor supplies a control frame generated by embedding a first frame to a MAC header of a second frame to the physical processor as the frame. The first frame is recognizable by the first wireless communication method and a second wireless communication method. The second frame is recognizable by the first wireless communication method but is not recognizable by the second wireless communication method.

  • Patent number: 8908519
Abstract: In an SCTP communication system including a plurality of nodes in which communication is conducted via an association established using at least one stream between nodes, upon detecting the occurrence of a vacant stream or a surplus stream and upon receiving an additional request message describing the additionally requested number of streams, each node sends back an additional acknowledgement message to a counterpart node so as to change the number of streams used for an association between these nodes. That is, by dynamically changing the number of streams used between nodes without causing an intermittent break in communication, it is possible to effectively utilize the number of streams in large-scale communication, and it is therefore possible to improve communication speed.

  • Patent number: 8908511
Abstract: In a method of scheduling transmission services over a high speed packet access communication link such as a HSDPA and/or a HSUPA link a list of queues is created for transmission services to be provided over the link. The queues, which include both Real Time and Non Real Time queues, are allotted respective service priorities based e.g. on a channel quality indicator and/or a Quality of Service indicator to produce an ordered list of queues based on the service priorities. The link resources needed for serving at least one set of queues having higher priorities in the ordered list are estimated and a check is made. If these resources are available, the set of queues having higher priorities in the ordered list are served. If the resources required are not available, at least one queue is removed from the ordered list of queues.

  • Patent number: 8902833
Abstract: A method and apparatus for wireless communication may provide an RLC reset procedure tailored for a multipoint HSDPA system utilizing a plurality of disparate Node Bs to provide an RLC flow from an RNC to a UE. Some aspects of the disclosure provide for a flush request to be provided to each of a plurality of Node Bs utilized as serving cells in the multipoint HSDPA system, so that stale packets are not retained in internal buffers at the Node Bs following the RLC reset procedure. In some examples, the RLC reset procedure is only completed after confirmation that the flush of the internal buffers has been completed. Confirmation may be explicitly provided by each Node B utilizing a backhaul interface, or may be implicitly determined utilizing timers or signaling between the respective Node Bs.
