  • Patent number: 5052734
Abstract: A cargo container lifting spreader compensating mechanism for facilitating engagement by the spreader with cargo containers having out-of-plane twistlock engagement receptacles, the invention comprising cross-members for carrying the twistlock lug members secured at the ends of the spreaders with rotatable connections whereby they are partially rotatable in a vertical plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the spreader with a restrictor means to limit said rotation.

  • Patent number: 5050918
Abstract: An accessory for holding a contact lens includes a concave element that is place adjacent to a user's cornea or adjacent to a contact lens on that user's cornea and a fluid circuit that connects an air passage in that concave element to the interior of a flexible hollow ball. Flexing the ball causes air to move out of the air passage to move a contact lens from the concave element onto a user's cornea, and release of a distorted ball sucks air into the air passage to move a contact lens off of a user's cornea onto the concave element. Guiding elements include mirrors and support arms.

  • Patent number: 5035457
Abstract: A device for exchanging simple tools that do not need utility service is adapted to facilitate coupling one such tool to, and uncoupling it from, a movable robotic arm. The device comprises an attaching member attachable to the tool, a supporting member connected to the arm and having an open slot therein and a recessed upper surface adjacent to the slot, and a retaining member movably mounted to the arm above the supporting member and spring-biased toward the supporting member slot and upper surface. The attaching member, attached to the tool, is received by the open slot, supported by the recessed upper surface, and yieldably retained there by the spring-biased retaining member during use. The attaching member is then withdrawn from the slot, upper surface, and retaining member, and returned to a storage rack located nearby.

  • Patent number: 4973098
Abstract: A frost preventive device is set forth wherein a flexible fabric sheet includes spaced side edges, including a flexible magnetic bar mounted within a complementarily configured pocket adjacent each of the side edges. The device includes spaced sections of hook and loop fasteners to permit gathering of the fabric together to accommodate vehicular windshields of narrower dimensions and accordingly permit usage of the organization upon a variety of variously configured vehicles. The device further includes an alternative embodiment utilizing a series of alternating hook and loop fastener segments with intermediate non-hook and loop portions therebetween to provide greater flexibility in usage of the device in accommodating variously configured automotive windshields.
