Patent number: 7374631Abstract: A method of forming printable media using a laminate sheet construction which includes a film-coated liner sheet and a laminate facestock. A facestock sheet, a film layer and an adhesive layer together form the laminate facestock. The laminate facestock is cut through to the liner sheet to form facestock cut lines defining at least in part perimeters of printable media, such as rectangular business cards. An outer face of the liner sheet is cut through to form liner-sheet cut lines defining a plurality of liner sheet strips on a back side of the laminate facestock. The laminate sheet construction is sheeted into a plurality of sheets, each of the sheets includes a plurality of the printable media and at least one of the liner sheet strips. The sheets are fed through a printer or copier, desired indicia is printed on the media and the printed media then separated from the liner sheet strips of the sheet.Type: GrantFiled: September 22, 1998Date of Patent: May 20, 2008Assignee: Avery Dennison CorporationInventors: Steven Craig Weirather, Brian R. Patent number: 7189300Abstract: Slitters cut through a first layer of film immediately prior to lamination of the first layer to a second layer of film to form a strip therebetween. The degree of bonding between the first and second layers is adjusted so that the strip can be removed without harming the rest of the film or destroying any barrier properties. The lamination process can utilize extrusion lamination or adhesive lamination to provide a variety of uses: removable coupons, prize disclosures, stickers, and an adhesive re-close strip.Type: GrantFiled: October 14, 2003Date of Patent: March 13, 2007Assignee: Frito-Lay North America, Inc.Inventors: Anthony Robert Knoerzer, Garrett William Kohl, Steven Kenneth Tucker

Patent number: 6875302Abstract: The present invention provides a lamination-assisted method for preparing high quality plaques for the purposes of commemoration, commendation, information, or award, having the appearance and durability of metal plaques. This invention further provides a method which may be utilized for the preparation of acrylic block displays for commemoration, award, information, or commendation using lamination, whereby the impression is conveyed to an observer of an embedded image. In either case the text or graphic image, as imprinted on a carrier, is laminated to the display solid by using an adhesive film. An additional protective layer may then be laminated to the carrier.Type: GrantFiled: September 29, 2003Date of Patent: April 5, 2005Assignee: Custom Art Concept LimitedInventors: Michael James Parker, Ronald James Hunt

Patent number: 6740189Abstract: An article such as a soft cover portfolio, or desk folder includes a graphic image thereon by transferring an image from a source to a processor which is operable to control a printer to print multiple images on a sheet of polyvinyl chloride or the like. The printed images may be protected by laminating a transparent vinyl sheet over the image sheet and the images are then precut to final size. The individual images are applied directly to the article or to a member used in forming an article by RF sealing the image to the member. The image may be supported on a debossing die or placed on the member wich will form the article, then struck by the debossing die.Type: GrantFiled: September 6, 2000Date of Patent: May 25, 2004Assignee: Dart Manufacturing CompanyInventors: Jimmie D.
