  • Patent number: 7587334
Abstract: A POS terminal determines an upsell to offer in exchange for the change due to a customer in connection with a purchase. The point-of-sale terminal preferably maintains a database of at least one upsell price and a corresponding upsell to offer a customer in exchange for the change due to him. If the customer accepts the upsell, the cashier so indicates by pressing a selection button on the POS terminal. The required payment amount for the customer to pay is then set equal to the rounded price, rather than the purchase price. Thus, the customer receives the upsell in exchange for the coins due to him, and the coins need not be exchanged between the customer and the POS terminal.

  • Patent number: 7580897
Abstract: Between an IC card (1) and a electronic ticket server (2), upon purchasing an electronic ticket a public key cryptosystem is employed for a mutual authentication to keep a strict security, and a shared secret between the electronic ticket and a ticket collecting machine is sent on a secure channel as well as the electronic ticket. Upon usage of the electronic ticket, the IC card (1) and the ticket collecting machine (6) mutually judge whether they carry out the mutual authentication by using a public key cryptosystem or a symmetric key cryptosystem. When they determine to use the symmetric key cryptosystem, they carry out the mutual authentication by using the shared secret exchanged beforehand. When they determine to use the public key cryptosystem, they carry out the mutual authentication by using the same method as that used upon purchasing the electronic ticket.

  • Patent number: 7505939
Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for presenting a reason for the rejection of a credit application from an applicant is disclosed. The method includes obtaining a factor from a credit bureau identified as a factor that influences the FICO score assigned to the application by the credit bureau. The factor identified by the credit bureau is mapped to an internal rejection code. A rejection reason is provided that corresponds to the internal rejection code to the applicant.

  • Patent number: 7496604
Abstract: Systems and techniques for improving the performance of a network system having one or more sending systems and one or more receiving systems may include determining the digital signature of a received digital file, comparing the digital signature against stored digital signatures of digital files accessible to the receiving system, and determining whether to store the received digital file and/or a location identifier for the stored version of the received digital file based on a result of the comparison.

  • Patent number: 7475046
Abstract: A system conducts anonymous negotiations and supports indications of interest in trading stock. The system includes a database for storing public orders received from a public stock trading system; and a server for receiving hidden orders from a plurality of users and for conducting anonymous negotiations between first and second users with the hidden orders. The server repeatedly accesses the database to determine a match of any one of the hidden orders with any one of the public orders, and to execute a pair of orders selected from the hidden orders and the public orders. The system also transmits indications of interest (IOIs) into a trading environment using the server for processing a trading order from a first user and for maintaining a profile of a user. The profile includes a current IOI setting for controlling transmission of the IOI from the user. The server responds to a toggle command from the first user to control transmission of the IOI opposite to the current IOI setting.

  • Patent number: 7433855
Abstract: A system, method and computer program product for processing event records. The present invention includes a detection layer, an analysis layer, an expert systems layer and a presentation layer. The layered system includes a core infrastructure and a configurable, domain-specific implementation. The detection layer employs one or more detection engines, such as, for example, a rules-based thresholding engine and a profiling engine. The detection layer can include an AI-based pattern recognition engine for analyzing data records, for detecting new and interesting patterns and for updating the detection engines to insure that the detection engines can detect the new patterns. In one embodiment, the present invention is implemented as a telecommunications fraud detection system. When fraud is detected, the detection layer generates alarms which are sent to the analysis layer. The analysis layer filters and consolidates the alarms to generate fraud cases.

  • Patent number: 7430762
Abstract: Identification card manufacturing security restricts use of an identification card manufacturing system with only authorized supplies. In accordance with one aspect of the invention, a supply-specific security code (SSSC) and supply-specific data are stored in memory of the supply. The SSSC is translated using the supply-specific data. Finally, the supply is authorized for use with the identification card manufacturing system only when the translated SSSC is found to be valid. In accordance with another aspect of the invention, an identification card manufacturing system is configured to operate only with supplies having corresponding customer-specific security codes (CSSC). A supply CSSC and supply-specific data are retrieved from memory of the supply. Additionally, a system CSSC and system-specific data are retrieved from memory of the identification card manufacturing system. The supply CSSC and the system CSSC are translated using the supply-specific data and the system-specific data, respectively.

  • Patent number: 7430535
Abstract: A system including at least one computer configured as a server that contains a database of deal information, business rules, libraries and templates for deals for at least one business entity is provided. The system further includes at least one client system connected to the server through a network. The server is configured to prompt a user to create a deal, including identifying deal team members, notify members of the deal team of tasks to perform and milestones accomplished, receive documents relating to a deal from a client system that are submitted for approval by a user, and provide access to the deal documents through a client system for review and approval.

  • Patent number: 7389267
Abstract: A computer based system, method, and computer program product for performing verification between two parties. The system generates buyer and seller sample data from data stored on buyer and seller systems based on a determined transaction time and the account numbers. The system sends the generated sample data to an administrator system, if a comparison between the generated buyer and seller sample data is positive. The administrator system completes the transaction, if the sent data compares positively to data previously stored in the administrator system.
